Saban could be on this list if his Bama teams didn't consistently shite the sugar bowl bed.
2001 and 2003 guarantees he will be in there eventually
But yes he should go in as LSU coach only

Cannon should have gotten in.
In Cannon's Heisman trophy season, LSU lost 21-0 to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl. This isn't a HOF of great players that happened to play in the Sugar Bowl. I guess he did throw for the only touchdown scored in the Sugar Bowl the year prior

why should Billy Cannon be in the Sugar Bowl HOF
Because he scored the winning touchdown in a national championship game in the sugar bowl?
ETA: I'm aware he threw for the touchdown. You still count quarterbacks who throw as scoring touchdowns.

national champions were determined prior to bowl games back then. And he didn't score the touchdown, he threw for a TD in that game. he had 51 yards rushing and threw one pass for 9 yards and a TD.

I wonder if they are going to include non-Sugar NCG games.
Some parts of their website include them in the Sugar Bowl lineage, while other parts do not.

of course, Archie Manning gets selected

Coach Bryant owned the Sugar Bowl. Might as well rename it after him.

Bo Jackson Auburn 1984
22 carries - 130 yards - zero TDs
Really, he got in on this performance? Auburn rushed for over 300 yards that day so he didn't even account for half their yards on the ground.
Jiminy Christmas
What about Wuerffel in the natty vs FSU? 306 yards passing and 4 TDs. Or Ike Hilliard in the same game, 7 catches for 150 yards and 3 TDs including the best juke ever witnessed on that field. Bo is so fricking overrated.

Arkansas receiver Chuck Dicus posted arguably the best back-to-back Sugar Bowl performances in history. In the 1969 game, he had one of the greatest receiving days in Sugar Bowl history when he caught 12 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown in a 16-2 win over Georgia. One year later, on January 1, 1970, Dicus proved 1969 was no fluke as he caught six passes for 171 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown. While his Razorbacks lost that day to Ole Miss, his two-game totals of 19 receptions and 340 receiving yards are both tops among individuals in Sugar Bowl history.
