Anyone in the LA area have any updates? Seen conflicting information about the degree of these fires.

Google has maps that show blazes less than 5 miles from the Rose Bowl.

GTown was talking about this earlier today.
We agreed we'll just play in Athens.

The closest fire is 15 miles away per CA official fire map.

The Bowl itself would be tough to burn down. Some of the hillsides nearish to it could burn, and have in the past.

The issue will be the smoke of these fires are still burning. Depending on the winds it could be brutal. Games a long way away though.

Yeah I think they'll get a handle on the fire that is burning right now in the next couple of weeks but the bigger concern is how easy it would be to start a fire in all of SoCal. Hopefully people are cognizant of the conditions and aren't burning yard foliage / cooking smores. I read that the overwhelming majority of the wildfires that start these days are from people and not naturally occurring. I feel bad for all the folks who are affected by this - can't imagine how terrified / helpless a lot of them must feel.

If it's near the stadium, it won't be a month from now. It'll burn through the area and be on to some other poor community.

Horrifying what's happening in that area.

I know they were monoitorong air quality and thinking of canceling the Cal/Washington game with the Northern California wild fires back in October... I wonder what would happen if these fires hang around? Delay the game and the National champoinship? Move the game ?

They won't hang around that long.

The air quality is a bitch right now, but it will be fine by Jan. 1.

I'm about 7 miles from one of the fires. Thankfully, the winds have shifted North today - last couple days have been pretty bad - eyes are still bloodshot and I'm still coughing, but much less than before.

They would move it before they delay it, given that any delay would be more than a day, but with that said... it's a long way away still... HIGHLY unlikely for it to still be a factor on Jan 1.

Could make it miserable for the game though. I've been out there when they were having fires 100 miles away or so, and the smoke and ash is still unbearable.

Hope they get the fires contained soon. Already made arrangements for a week in CA.
