John Calipari just updated the media and said that Willie Cauley-Stein is “doubtful” for tomorrow’s game. He said that Willie wants to “limp in and play a bit” but that at this point, it isn’t clear if he can. The good news is that he does NOT have an achilles injury and its just an ankle injury. Very good news indeed.
There were some reports that he tore his achilles tendon. They were thankfully incorrect.

That's great news Belle, that is doesn't have a season ending injury. Hope the team can rally and play hard against Michigan, might give him time to heal up.

Need the ankle guy that was on Pitino staff type magic here.

That's a big time loss against a team like Michigan. You need his rebounding and block shot skills. Hopefully Kentucky can roll past this game and have him for the next one.

If Dakari Johnson and Alex Poythress can continue to play as well as they did yesterday then we should be alright. I'm more worried about our perimeter defense against Michigan then I am about the loss inside.

Belle what are the chances he is coming back now in your opinion? Who else do you think will come back?

I thought they really held up pretty good inside when he left the game which was somewhat of a surprise but the other players did pick up the slack. I do think the guard play will be key and it looked like it got better in the second half of last night's game.

The thing about injuries is a player can look at it one of two ways. They can either think "Look, I got injured and the risk is too high to come back" or "I need to come back, get healthy, and work on my game".
I still think WCS, Young, and Randle are gone. The Twins all depend on how well they continue to play. They've really rebuilt their draft stock in post-season play IMO. But I would've never told you Terrence Jones or Doron Lamb would've returned either so you just never know. I do know that the Harrison's Dad came up to Atlanta during the SEC Tournament and told them that if they were planning on making the jump because they felt they needed to support their family financially that they didn't need to.

Even if UK makes the Final 4, I don't see him coming back.
I am betting it maybe a ligament damage in his ankle region the way he pulled up…would not shock me it is a 2 grade (partial tear).
Glad to see Johnson becoming a stud. Alex is going to have to play like he did at the end of the game last night.

I agree with Belle.
But the way the twins are playing in the dance, they have started to knock in the top 20 for the draft.
It will be interesting to see if one is projected as a high pick…the other is bordering towards the 2cd round, if one goes and the other stays to improve draft stock.

So who is going to fill the role of having a few flashes of brilliance then inexplicably disappearing for a long stretch of time?

Poythress. He's pretty good at that.
In all seriousness, when WCS is on he's on. I won't hate on his inconsistency too much.

Yeah, he's immensely talented.

quote:Kentucky was never a bad team overall all season. They just had a lot of moments where they looked extremely bad. Cal has seemed to get them to gel at the right time and that is all he needed. Obviously the "tweak" worked. Losing WCS is a set back, but it doesn't have to be a major one. They still played extremely well after he left out of yesterday's game, granted Louisville's front line only consists of one guy. Still, they seem to be peaking at the right time and could very well win it all.

Well that sucks. Michigan is damn good. UK will need their A game against them. A game without Stein is a little more difficult.
Either way, should be a killer game.
UT just took them to the wire!
