Cornerback Depth -- Malcolm Mitchell?

If I recall correctly, I believe it was stated early in the offseason that MM26 wouuldn't play any CB, but is that realistic now with Reggie Wilkerson's injury?
At least the first game or two while the other non-early enrollee freshman are getting their feet wet? I don't like the idea of facing Clemson and Carolina with either Devin Bowman, Shaq Wiggins, or Brendan Langley being our Nickel CB and possible starter in the event of an injury.
Does Kennar Johnson factor in here or is he playing safety? Either way, after the Jakar Hamilton debacle I worry about relying too much on him or Fluker.
Haven't been able to keep up as much this summer and I'm just curious if anybody has any idea.

Mitchell is needed with Bennett on offense.
While he might be a good CB for us, it will be better for the team in the long run if guys like Bowman, Johnson, Dawson, and Langely see this as their opportunity to step up.

The plan is for MM to play only receiver. They don't want to Richard Samuel him, which is very legitimate. We'll have Swann, Dawson, Bowman, K. Johnson, Langley and Wiggins at corner. We'll be ok. It's not worth wasting another fall camp for Mitchell practicing with the defense.

At first I was thinking it would be a nice move because of our depth and experience at WR, but Mitchell has been one of our most dynamic players offensively.
We'll need Mitchell to take over as the big play guy in our offense with King graduating. He's too valuable to switch to D.

Hopefully those guys step up and perform.
This is also extemely true, the more weapons at WR the better. I rewatched the SECCG the other day and missing Bennett and Brown turned out to be huge. In the first half we tried to exploit Geno Smith who played Nickel and was mainly matched up with Conley, but Conley wasn't athletic enough to get adequate separation on a few plays.

Yes.
Carolina and Clemson only have 1 good receiver each. The rest are scrubs that aren't half the athletes that our freshmen are. There will be some blown coverage here and there, but my hope is that our defensive line is dominant enough (at least in the Clemson game) to force the quarterback to throw faster than he wants, or while on the run, which will give the young secondary plenty of opportunities to make plays.
Safety help from Tray Matthews will be huge.
I'm not worried in the slightest... about Clemson.
Carolina is little bit higher quality, mainly their offensive line. UGA's secondary will have to hold their own a little bit better for that one.

So as not to gunk up the recruiting thread...
Tramel Terry?

Clemson has a solid core of wr. That is the one position that I will say that they are fairly deep at.

They've got 3 solid DL coming back on their DL.
And you only need 1 QB (until you don't).

^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That's plenty of cornerbacks.
We can fit either Swann, Langley, or one of our safeties at the star position for the Clemson game.
Heck... we played quite a bit of base defense against spread formations in the spring game. We might even keep our big guys out there and blitz frequently.
