I just had a flair up of gout in my right foot and big toe. Let me tell you childbirth has nothing on this. It is so G.D. painful I seriously wanted to scream or cry or both it's like having plague. They say beer=gout but please no. Anybody else ever had it? You can verify what I'ma saying.

Gout is easy

Passing a stone, now that is some real child birthing pain

PS, Southern food is the worst for gout but heavy cream and shrimp may be taboo to you now.

I have passed stones through the urinary tract. That is a vacation compared to this. Maybe you and I are opposites because I can't believe you've had and thought nothing of it.

And about my age. I'm not wet behind the ears and I'm not a pensioner just yet. I'm right in those mid life crisis years.

Yes. Lower your acid intake.

Mushrooms, too.

And yes, OP, alcohol is terrible for gout.

There are degrees. I've got a touch of it in one of my heels and it's sore as heck, but nothing I can't handle. My bro-in-law had it and he could barely walk. He's an alcoholic, so his was probably much worse.

I've had one stone that I know of and I thought someone had stabbed me in the lower back and twisted the knife. Terrible pain but only lasted about a minute. I passed it with no issue, though.

It can take days, hence the childbirth comparison.

At least now they can break it up with ultrasound to make it easier to pass.

Never heard of it getting in the heel. I thought uric acid built in only joints like my big toe. Need to go back to school i do.

Worked with a guy that really liked his PBR, would miss work every so often because his gout would flair up.

gout is no joke; a bedsheet touching a toe is painful;

for me, processed meat, such as summer sausage/beef jerky, was a big culprit;

Was child's play compared to a pneumothorax.

I introduced myself as a professional air guitarist once at a wedding reception. I was a rock star for ‘bout a minute.

Take small bites of life.
