I don’t remember seeing much posted about them ever from y’all and have never heard any friends from UNC talk bad about y’all either.

Probably with the older fans. Just one of those that's kind of died off.

More so in baseball than anything.

Funnily enough we play UNC in Charlotte to open the 2023 season.

There definitely was way back in the day. But they play each other so rarely now it doesn’t mean much to the last 2-3 generations.

Anyone that is interested should read up on why we left the ACC. UNC and Tobacco Road literally changed academic standards so our best basketball player wouldn’t qualify after he fricked up their freshman teams.

They also continuously voted against our guys for conference awards even though they were winning national ones.

I think we won the ACC in football in 1969, the regular season 1970 title in basketball, and the 1971 conference tournament in basketball and had left the conference by the next year.

A LOT of hate between anyone above the age of 60 in both fanbases.

My best friend growing up is a UNC guy. We lived down the street from each other in SC, but his dad's family is from Chapel Hill.

When I told his Grandad my senior year of high school that I was going to South Carolina the Grandad had a meltdown. Couldn't believe I would even consider going to SC. It was so bizarre. I understand it now after learning about the fallout from SC leaving the ACC.

No. After leaving the ACC in 1971, we have only played them sporadically at best. A guess would be 12 times in 50 years?

yes for the older crowd.

When USC was in the ACC we hated UNC. Tobacco road ran the ACC and there are many instances of the snitches from up the road giving us trouble because our basketball teams could beat theirs.

I love beating them in anything

Kind of like Texas with the B12 I guess.

I get that. State during Dan’s tenure snitched like a b*tch constantly. Hopefully Kiff and Leach have a gentlemen’s agreement now and along with NIL, that is behind both us amd State, but we’ll see.

I have a number of older USCe friends (long story).

There was a lot more than just “bad feeling” that led USCe out of the ACC. UNC was the “Texas” of that league and the league itself was North Carolina centric. The things USC had to put up with were really serious. And there was a final straw though I forget it now.,

I think your question is akin to wondering if there are hard feelings between Alabama and Ga Tech…but more recent. The answer is “yes.”

Yes before my time of course Ga Tech was all uppity about not coming to Oxford as it was in the sticks and insisted on playing in Atlanta. So much so they left the conference. That is the gist of what I’ve been told. I wouldn’t doubt it was similar to y’all’s deal.
