If you're jumping into the deep end of an established Bama dynasty and an ascendant UGA, Brian Kelly isn't exactly the guy.

This is like LSU hiring 2014 Mark Richt.

Meh, underwhelming. I do find it funny that ND isn't a final destination for a coach.

It really is. Market is about to be completely reset if it isn’t already.

A main reason they will expand the playoffs. They can’t have all these salaries and only 4 teams making the show.

Amazing how much money Woodward spends as LSU's AD.

They owe close to $30 million to O
and assts in buyouts, just hired Kelley for $12 to $15 million, spending $2 million per year on a WBB coach and currently have the highest annual debt service (as a percentage of revenue) in the SEC.

Must be printing money down in BR and I can't imaging our athletic department having that type of ledger.

ETA They lost $80 million because of Covid

ETA Looks like Kelly is closer to $9 million but the point still stands.

I’m just a little shocked he would make this move when they are still very much in contention for a playoff spot. Seems really stupid.

Yea, where is all that money coming from is the elephant in the room question?
Louisianna as a state and Baton Rouge and New Orleans as cities are like 3rd world countries next to the last in the U.S. in terms of desirable places to live only behind Mississippi.
LSU is very fortunate to have strong high school athletics and players who are largely loyal to LSU as the main university in that state.
But I can't imagine anyone, least of Brian Kelly, wanting to live and work there so his decision is definitely all about money.

Weren't they crying in 2018 (coincidentally immediately before Burreaux) that the state was practically bankrupt, and that they might have to shut down athletic program funding?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but ND's path is as follows:

-UGA beats Bama in SECCG
-Iowa beats Michigan
-Baylor beats Okie St.
-Houston beats Cincy (insurance game)

I think it only takes us winning and then Baylor and Houston.

I think it's a good move for LSU coming off Coach O. They needed a swift culture change and Brian Kelly is polar opposite of Orgeron. He might not be there for 10 years, but he'll give them a solid 5. The guy has won everywhere he's been.

And gave legit limp-dicked results in the CFP games ND's been lucky enough to worm their way into.
