What other rivalry has two current NFL receivers who pissed like dogs and an NFL quarterback that shite his pants in the middle of a game.

When has the egg bowl been relevant to what actually happens in the west?

That's why rivalry games are the best when both sides have the most to lose.

The Egg Bowl has enough inherent, internal vitriol already. No outside influences or factors are necessary to make what is already a passionate game even more passionate.

It's been handed down in his family for generation, most likely their most precious heirloom along with the cowbell and poster of their true hero.

In the state of Mississippi. If they weren't sticking this thing on Thanksgiving night, who would watch nationally?

According to the thread title, everyone is much too laid back to bother.

See, that's the thing: we don't care who watches our game. That is the essence of rivalry - all-consuming. There is nothing else going on that night in Mississippi. It's the most important event of the year, regardless of what people outside of Mississippi think.

This game should be toxic. I hate that it's not. We hate them, and they hate us, but the current players and coaches have apparently forgotten that. That sucks. I hate it. I hate them with an unhealthy hatred. I don't want it to be healthy. I hate that the coaches are friends. I hate that the opposing players don't hate each other. It is so disappointing that something bad isn't going to happen. I hate that.

Mullen and Freeze let this thing get way out of control, with an assist from Greg Sankey. Roy Kramer or Mike Slive would have called those two and their ADs to Birmingham and said, "after we leave here, you two are going to make this go away." They were smart enough to keep the NCAA from sniffing around the league.

Why should any Ole Miss or State fan give a flying Fijian frick if non-Mississippians are watching the Egg Bowl?

Why do any of us care who's watching?

With all the pants-shitting, leg hiking, and general arse-hattery going on, it's best that nobody else watches. That's just how we like it.

I’ll always love Coach Shurl, as everybody mumbled his name on the post-game call-in show. Those were the good old days. Our QBs were always awful, but we’d line up and go hard.

Egg bowl is the best Ag vs Flag game in the country as far as the Ag/Flag dynamic goes.

The ostentatious, rich kid, professional school against the farmin' and mechanical school. Nobody plays those roles better than 'Ole Miss and State.

That's my only regret about Starkville getting some pretentious and trendy stuff in town. It goes against that narrative.

There are a lot of good Ag/Flag games out there with this dynamic like Iowa vs Iowa State, Clemson vs SC, Kansas vs K-State, Michigan vs. Michigan State and of course the Iron Bowl.

But when it comes to "Snobs" vs. "Rednecks". Egg Bowl has no peers.
