Other posts have me thinking about the Egg Bowl with OM and MSU both playing so well right now.

Then I thought about Leach teams always seeming to lose on Rivalry Week.

Firstly, Leach has lost 8 straight rivalry week games going vack to 2012.

Looked up his history, and he has only ever won 2 rivalry week games against opponants with winning records in his career.

He beat 7-5 Washington in OT in 2012. And 7-5 Oklahoma State in 2004. Thats it.

His only other Rivalry Week wins are against 4-8 Baylor teams in 2008 and 2009. And a cupcake game against Stephen F Austin in 2001.

He has lost every other rivalry week game hes ever coached, including the last 8 in a row.

I was thinking the Egg Bowl would be a great must-see game, but now I'm thinking Ole Miss probably steamrolls State.

What if we just compare the barner game on the Plains?

He coached at Wazzu when his rivals at Washington were having very good recent success. Not a surprise they didn’t win much. That said, the State-OM gap is non-existent today, so that won’t happen here.

No need for sour grapes just because Leach steamrolled the Aggies this year.

The talent gap between Washington and Wazzu was pretty significant. Not so much with the egg bowl

Y'all won by 4.

And no sour grapes here. Honestly, I'm a little disappointed. I was really looking forward to the Egg Bowl. Now I kinda doubt it will be worth watching.

You do remember that State was at the TAMU 25 yard line with a minute and a half on the clock in victory formation, right?

Meh, Aggie is just grasping at straws now. It's kind of sad.

Now do the Red Raider and Aggie rivalry numbers.

How do you have 3 different rivals? Is that a Big 12 thing

To be fair Ole Miss and MSU are much closer program wise than Texas Tech and OSU or WSU-Washington

I would say TTU and Ok. St. are pretty even programs.

But really it's just the whole history.

Crazy to me that a well regarded coach like Leach has done so poorly, so consistently, during the biggest weekend of the year.

Across 3 schools. Multiple opponants. For multuple decades now. And he's got 2 wins over 7-5 teams. 2 wins over 4-8 teams. 1 win over an FCS cupcake (how this even got scheduled for Rivalry Week at TTU I dont know). And has lost every other game he's ever coached that weekend.

Maybe the man just loves Thanksgiving food and is too full and bloated to call an effective game against a quality opponant that weekend. Honestly, I would laugh my arse off if that was the case. That would be the most Leach thing ever.
