Love the pride our D has and have no doubt they are looking forward to the challenges UTk passing game presents. Something they haven’t faced.

I don’t know our defense well enough to say what has to happens to adjust for their speed of play but obv that is a factor. I know in years past AU would go on runs against using the speed when they got us on our heels. It can be disruptive.

I expect the Vols to put up some points, get some big passes and some PI calls that can keep them in the game.

Key as always to me is turnovers on our end.

They will be playing with emotion and house money. We may have a storm to weather. I like the fact we have a test in front of us. It should make us better if we survive it.

Jalen Carter gonna have a field day

I expect an early turnover for us will crush their spirits. Should be a 52-13 type game

I think we have been sloppy on D vs UF and Mizzou. If the guys have any pride, they come out and comoletely destroy UT. I mean worse than 2017 so there is no confusion on whether UT is back.

No blown coverages just destroy the qb play after play.

Sloppy on offense, but not so much on defense. Maybe a bit soft, but I believe it is by design. Not nearly as much blitzing, but they didn't have to. Probably need to apply more pressure against UT.

Think it will be nearly impossible to have no blown coverages. Also hard to keep constant pressure with that fast of delivery…which is part of the purpose to mitigate OL issues.

Also still will be missing one of our top defensive rush threats in AA.

I think we will be in for a game tbh. In the end, our depth and talent prevail.

We easily could have been down at half in Florida. Great defense turned a pick into an opportunity.

TN might score a couple of TDs but I'm honestly not worried about them against our defense.

They scored a lot on Kentucky because of poor defense. Their explosive plays were due to blown coverages, taking advantage of bad matchups, and poor tackling, and they still needed a FG and a defensive stop to win the game. Their defense is porous and I expect us to score enough points to put them away.

I think the keys to the game will be our offense keeping its composure in the loud stadium and our defense remaining disciplined, not giving up the big plays and getting to the QB, like we've done regularly so far. Getting a few turnovers and capitalizing with points will deflate the crowd and demoralize TN.

Heavy emphasis on this

Tennessee is feeling themselves and will be looking to see if they can play us as close as they played Alabama, but with the added goal of actually taking us the distance in the 4th.

Need to shut them up early and often and hope any big plays they get against us are moot points because of how we're able to score at will on them. Their defense is porous and is probably a little worn down from these past few games.

The TOP battle from KY/TN was hilarious. KY had it for 46 minutes and some change, and TN only had it for 13 minutes. But still won.

If we disrupt their routes and timing we'll make them look dumb - I see a lot of jumped routes in our future. On offense, we just need to establish the run and control the clock.

Their signature win is KY and it was a shootout.

Have we had any blown coverages this year? If so, there can't have been many at all.

Had one or two vs. SCAR, IIRC. Both against Josh Vann.

My mind has rotted from the past month of Braves and Dawgs content, so my memory is not good at the moment, but I thought most of Vann's catches were solid coverage, they just made the perfect throw with the perfect catch on our coverage.

Was his touchdown catch blown? That's the only one I can remember

Some of our issues in run defense has been leaving lesser numbers in the box.

Florida would have 5 linemen, 1 tight end, 2 backs, and the QB tight in formation. We would have 7 or 8 in the box to stop their 9 (we are hoping to win matchups with our front 4 to disrupt the run game and keep coverage downfield to stop explosives).

That strategy and success depends upond JD99, JC88, TW44, DW95 holding up their end in one on one matchups.
I dont know if we will try that same strategy on the road (being -1 against the tennessee blocking scheme). We do seem to favor it against an offense that wants to scheme guys open.

No. Speed was in phase.
That may have been Speeds last start at corner.

I haven't heard much about their field in a couple of years. Did they finally figure out how to make a decent playing surface?

I will never forgive them for the injuries on that cattle dump field. Chubb being one of the worse.

Last time we were in their backyard, their QB didn't fare so well.

We've had multiple in every game according to Kirby. Teams just haven't been able to exploit them.

We had one at the end of the Mizzou game but we got the sack before the open receiver could be targeted.

Dawg D has shown a bit of a weakness defending a running QB. And, said QB can chunk it pretty well too. So, don't be surprised if UT scores 20 or more. And, the Dawg O had better be ready to put up some points too. Now, don't start lobbing insults, I'm just saying don't be surprised if that happens. If the UGA defense comes with their A game, the Dawgs win with relative ease, but probably gonna be a first half battle. If the UGA D doesn't bring their A game, look for a tough game til the end.

For this game we need to simplify the defense to a degree. UT loves going fast and if they catch us still trying to communicate at the snap we’re in trouble. I think our goal of stopping the run with even numbers plays big in this game. If we can, we should be able to generally keep our safeties back to not allow many deep balls kind of like Clemson did to us. If they find much success running and we have to add guys in the box, it could be interesting to see KR and DK get tested.
