What do you think is the biggest thing holding us back from having an elite run game at this point?
Not having a 1st round pick back like chubb/michel/swift?
Being one dimensional on offense?
The o-line?
The running schematics?
I'm mostly inclined to say those running backs were the game changer for past run games, seeing as we were even less balanced than we are this year.

We’ve got good not great RB’s. O-Line has had its problems as well.

The offensive line from 2017 manhandled Dlines. I am not seeing that from this team. Running backs only look as good as the oline allows. You don’t recruit this many 4 and 5 stars only to have every single one of them just end up “good”.

OLine is the biggest piece.

We are still blowing assignments.
Not to mention struggling against 4 man front of Florida (DL is their strength). I flashed back to the Clemson game. We could struggle against a&m and bama as well.

Monken does a good job with and without the running game. But it is so much easier on the qb to be in manageable 3rd downs.

Defenses seem to be wanting to make us 1 dimensional, but we still run it because we can. It also sets up play action, which Bennett executes well and gets us in good match ups. The Oline has missed some blocks, but they have been solid. Definitely room for improvement. Beyond that, I think our overall philosophy is to pound and play action and wear them down with occasional deep strikes.

Currently we have one of the most efficient offenses in the country as well as one of the most balanced pass/run.

Think we are 9th in yards per play.

Our avg margin of victory is 31.9 which is best in the country by 6 points.

Our run game isn’t sexy but it works. It will only improve as we get our receivers dialed in.

8th to 9th best in conference in yards per rush is elite?

OLine is smaller than years past and built for pass protection. Also we don’t have an Chubb or Gurley type back then add in a walk-on QB which makes teams try to force us to beat them with a passing attack.

Pretty much this.
We have a good but not great running game which has been good enough to create a balanced offense.
If Auburn upsets Bama, then our offense will definitely be challenged by a very good A&M defense.
Our current slate of running backs are not Gurley, Chubb and Michel good. None of them have break away for a TD power/speed combination.

White is obviously our best power back but he does not have the vision and elusiveness of Cook.
Cook can often find a running niche where there doesn't seem to be one but he doesn't have White's power or the flat out speed of a NFL level RB.

Our OL seems to be a lot better at pass protection than opening holes for a power running game.
We seem to do best in goal line situations when big no. 99 comes in to help with blocking which tells me we need to recruit additional big OL to allow extra linemen in those situations without having to borrow Davis from the defense.

And yes, defenses generally load the box to stop our running game hoping that Bennett will not be able to make the throws necessary to beat tight coverage.
As such we need to continue to focus on creative offense that will allow Bennett to have options to run, pitch out or pass to tight ends and trailing wide receivers.
Translation: it is very difficult to defend the run and the pass simultaneously but this type of offense requires great discipline by our OL to avoid ineligible receiver down field penalties.

Bring back the toss sweep!! I've watched the OL a good bit lately, and they miss too many assignments. That, and they've gotten beat more than they should. Especially the G's and C.

Nlu think holding our running fame back is scheme.

We try to run like we are a run to set up the pass team but we are the opposite yet we dont pass enough to open things up.

Think we are like 27th overall. Pretty sure we best most of the teams ahead of us.

Maybe 10th on YPP passing.

No one part of the offense is elite but collectively the stats say it is.

I would agree none our our backs are elite BUT they are all very good in our offense.

Sugar is sweet but it takes flour, milk and butter to make a great cake.

This^^^
With Georgia having injuries to the receiving group and JT being out, teams scheme to stop our run game.

Teams are basically playing us like they did in 2017. The difference is the O Line is average. RBs are pretty good but not special. Stetson isn’t near as good in his pre-snap reads as far as identifying run blitzes and man vs zone. Also our pass game is like mildly concerning to opponents but definitely not scary.

Dawgs are running mostly power because of our defense. Kirby has a defense he plans the offense around. This coaching staff will look at every one of the opposing teams players and come up with an offensive plan for that game. Look for a lot of time consuming running plays vs UT unless UT can score. I think this will be a big test for at least 1st half, UT will pullout everything they have in this game.

Uhhhhh, a lot of these bad(sic) passes that end up in completions are throws in man where the bad guys have their backs turned. Do you see how many times Stet moves the RB pre snap? Do you see how many times he goes to the line to adjust a play? I’m sure some are dummy calls, but I do not know how you can make that assessment based on what we see.

We are 4th in yards per play, 3rd in points per play, 9th in points per game, 1st in scoring margin, and tied for 1st in winning percentage :)-

Give the offense some credit.
