He was a legit legend, and most of us didn't even fully realize it at the time because he happened to be on the field with Cornelius Bennett.
Never had the opportunity to meet him, but from all accounts he was a fantastic human being.

I'm still butt hurt over Keenan Allen decommitting from Alabama, and that was like 12 years ago.

The last one from the state like that was Chris Jones. Dude was a two star until his senior year. He came to a camp at MSU and everyone was like “Holy S**T!”

I'm like that with Nelson Agholor (he flipped from UF to USC on signing day) and I have no clue why.

Steve McNair, senior year, changed the way the game was played. McNair had nearly 6,000 yards and 53 touchdowns that one year.
He finished his career with 16,283 yards, which is a record that still stands today.
I am not going to argue who the best from Mississippi should be, because it's hard to argue with Rice. Rice is arguably the best WR that ever lived, Walter Payton changed the way the NFL looked a RB's, Hugh Greene was a freaking beast and they all have decent arguments but:
Archie? Hell NO!!! Look at his college stats.
Total career yards is 4753 with 31 TD's and 40 interceptions with a 52.8 completion %. That dude was exciting because he could run a little bit but to be included in the GOAT discussion is a joke.
His best year he threw for 1700 yards rushed for 500 yards. McNair did more in his senior year than Archi did in his entire career.
Archie does not belong in this conversation. There were tons of players better than him from this State.

Guy I know was on the Titans team plane when they were flying out west for a game, and McNair's back was so fricked up, he literally couldn't sit down, so he lay down in the aisle of the plane for the entire trip out.
Got there, stood up, won the game, went back down on the floor the whole way back. Never sat down the whole trip.
Dude was a beast.

He changed HS at some point, he has several relative that work with me. The coach at his former school did not help him. When he got to his new one, the coaching situations was a mess so there was no one there to help him.
A friend of mine saw him and contacted someone at Mississippi State. Mullen would not even send anyone to drive the 45 minutes to come check him out. They just told him to get him to a camp.
You would think a guy with that kind of talent would be seen, he was not.

On a related note, I'm also reminded at how fricked up it is that he died at age 45.

I have no problem with Deion, but not to even have Danny Wuerffel in the running is laughable. Derrick Henry is another one right off the top of my head.
