Lets say JT Daniels practices all week with zero pain….How would you handle the situation?

Not looking for emotional responses from fan boys of either QB, just honestly trying to figure out what is best for the team

I don’t have an answer but stetson has more playing time with this offense. After JT played crippled in the Clemson game he’s only played half of the South Carolina game and less than half of the Vanderbilt game. I like stetsons ability to extend plays for sure.

I would like to see JT get some game reps before we have to play Florida. If he’s feeling great, practices like normal, and the medical staff says he’s good I would be fine with playing him.

If there’s even an ounce of doubt about how healed he is, play Stetson. Having both of them available for the stretch run is of the highest importance and Stetson has shown he can get it done while we wait for JT.

I would trust Monken and Smart to make the call after watching practice all week and evaluating how rusty Daniels might be. Also would depend on what our game plan might be against the KY defense. I believe they have their finger on the pulse of this team.

You platoon them and whoever is playing better takes command the rest of the day.

Then whoever starts is on a short leash going forward knowing there’s a capable guy in the wings.

It is Stets job to lose now, he took advantage of the opportunity afforded to him with JT hurt, just like Fromm did to Eason. Hot hand, can't bench him. If he starts to frick up or get hurt, it is JT back in.

There's no reason to amke this a complicated soap operate when it doens't need to be. JT is the QB and is our starter. We're extremely lucky and fortunate that stetson has provided what he has, but there's a reason he has been a career backup that transferred to a JUCO for playing time then came back here and started 2020 as 4th string. He is a very experienced and capable #2 but JT is our guy.

Whatever we do, I don’t want to play 2 QBs. My personal preference would be JT because I think his ability to read a defense pre-snap and get the right protections/make the right reads is better, thus making the offense smoother. But Bennett has also shown to be a capable QB for us. I just don’t us to run a 1-and-1 or 2-and-1 series split with them. Let one of them work into a rhythm and win the damn game, don’t get cute or try to make everyone happy.

I believe Stet plays. Thinking that both Kirby and Monken like/love his ability to run and create plays with his legs. We will find out "the situation" by the Florida game.

I agree with others that we shouldn't play both. Make a choice and go.

JT is a championship caliber QB. Stetson is not.

JT is the better passer and would be in the running for the heisman if had hadn’t been injured. He will play in the NFL, whereas Stetson will not.

If he’s healed enough to where there’s zero chance of him reinjuring the lat, then he needs to play. If there’s still a small chance, then let Stetson start and if he screws up, throw in JT. JT needs to 100% start the Florida game.

Anyone acting like JT is made of glass has no clue what they’re talking about. The guy had a gruesome injury at USC and was still healing up until mid 2020.
The lat thing was him trying to play through an injury and the in and out never gave him time to heal. He should be about ready by now.

Please stop. JT is QB1. If he's healthy he will start.

Seems JT is the better QB, so I start him

But he’s on a short leash, it’s a very good position to be in being able to trust and count on your backup QB

plus, Stet has a great “TEAM me” attitude; so I’m not worrying about sideline or in huddle bickering

The fan in me wants to see Stet take us to the promised land

If I were coach, I’d do whatever I felt gave me the best shot to win

I thought you at least kinda liked the guy. Did you really just compare our backup quarterback to this Jerz-guid?

No situation. JT is our starter. He has been sidelined with a couple of relatively minor injuries, but ones that required being dealt with via rest, otherwise you risk aggravating them further.

Bennett has stepped up in JT's absence and given the coaches the luxury of not pushing JT to return any sooner than necessary. God forbid a situation warrant it, they could get JT into the game if it became dramatically-appropriate.

Bennett's role on the team is one we haven't had in a loooooong time, and that's a capable backup QB who not only can keep us from losing, but who's got the guts to help us win. Yes, he totally laid eggs in Jax & Tuscaloosa last year, but I'd venture a guess that he's not the same QB as a year ago.

Two separate times, we've faced Bama and their QB2 has come off the bench to wreck our dreams. Maybe it's finally our turn.

Seems that what you're getting from half the posts. JT is the starter when he's healthy. We all love Stet and what he has done for UGA, but JT is capable of winning a shootout against Alabama if it comes to that. He's the more talented player who gives you the ability to run every play in the playbook, sans maybe some RPO stuff. But do you really want Stet running that all that much? Probably not. It's tough to bench Stet after they way he has stepped up, but you have to play the better overall QB, and that is JT.

I'm great with J.T. starting, when he's ready. I just worry about rust.
