You all look like the talent is not up to upper-echelon SEC standards.

Perhaps I am not understanding what I see. The state of Texas turns out a lot of talent, from all accounts. Is Jimbo not getting it done or what is your explanation.

Not enough 5 star recruits. Simple as that. One or two per class doesn’t cut it. Seems like we develop a 4* guy into someone who can play at the next level every couple years. But…still just not getting enough 5* guys

We have great talent everywhere but QB and oline. Had some flat out misses at OL, combined with injuries, that have left the position thin. Not enough depth to overcome those shortcomings. Thats on the coaching staff.

King looked ok in his 1 game. Calzada looks like dog shite. No depth at QB. Big failure there.

The rest of the roster is pretty solid, but those holes are big. And make our offense 1 dimensional, and easy to exploit by any decent defense, which is most of the SEC.

How many do you need per class? You aren’t Bama, UGA or OSU. So don’t expect 4+ per year.

Texas kids don’t play a physical level of defense. Not being a smart arse but they’ve got to do a better job recruiting defenders outside of their own borders.

Texas HS athletes are overrated.

So you get 4 and 5 stars that are really 3 and 4 stars. And then if they're not developed and coached correctly then they get their arse whooped by 2 and 3 stars or even walk-ons.

Scheme. Their defensive line is all 5*s and is the best part of their team by far.

Their OL is 5*s who are put in poor positions to succeed (Green being moved everywhere, Foster starting C). Same with their WRs, 5* Demas with like 6 catches in 2 years. That’s scheme. They have talent just below the top 5, but they aren’t coached and put in a position to succeed. And yes, LSU sucks so don’t think this is sour grapez

Indeed. If only every player was a legit 5 star player! Some programs do fairly well with 1 or 2... or none.

Looking at that list of players and what they have done at A&M I'd say they have more than enough talent. Maybe that talent has not been developed particularly well, but its not like A&M is having to settle for players that weren't up to the level of a program like Texas State.

Right. More would certainly be better. Green and Leal being the 5* upper classmen are consistently playing at a higher level than those around them. Coaching matters, but talent level does as well. We don’t have the talent level of a Georgia or Alabama. And we aren’t playing like we do. That simple.

What's more concerning is the sheer number of misses going back to 2016: (rankings are where they are ranked in the A&M class)

2016 class

2-Kellen Dietsch: 4 star OL who never played and transferred to Arizona State
5-Clyde Chriss: 4 star WR who transferred after 2 seasons
6-Travon Fuller: 4 star DB who barely played

2017 class

1-Anthony Hines: 4 star LB who didn't amount to much and opted out of 2020
2-Jhamon Ausbon: 4 star WR who was slow as frick and opted out of 2020
4-Derrick Tucker: 4 star DB who fell off the depth chart early
5-Hezekiah Jones: 4 star WR with 0 career TD catches
6-Grayson Reed: 4 star OL. Highest ranked in the class. Injury prone

2018

3-Colten Blanton: 4 star OL. Injury prone and retired
6-Jordan Moore: 4 star DB who transferred after year 1
7-Tank Jenkins: 4 star OL who was JAG (just a guy) and transferred
8-Jeremiah Martin: 4 star DL who transferred to UW
9-Jashaun Corbin: 4 star RB who now starts for FSU
10-James Foster: 4 star QB bust who now holds a clipboard at Charlotte
11-Caleb Chapman: 4 star injury prone WR
12-Vernon Jackson: 4 star RB who suffered a career ending neck injury
13-Luke Matthews: 4 star OL who, were he not the youngest son of Bruce Matthews, would be another JAG

2019

3-Baylor Cupp: 5 star TE who was supposed to be on the field at the same time as Wydermyer. Still hasn't happened
4-Dylan Wright: 4 star WR who transferred to Minnesota
9-Kam Brown: 4 star WR who transferred to UCLA
10-Elijah Blades: 4 star JUCO WR who transferred to Florida
14-KeShun Brown: 4 star LB who spent more time being a thug POS than making the depth chart

2020

7-Chris Morris: 4 star OL who got arrested and kicked off the team in 2021

2021

5-Shadrach Banks: 4 star WR who showed up to spring ball excessively fat then transferred to TCU. the only WR in the 2021 class which proves that A&M should NEVER offer North Shore players

Definitely not across the board, OP. For example, A&M needs faster shut-down corners who don't get burned in man coverage which was a problem last year as well. They got exposed on Saturday night.

Then there's the obvious issue with rebuilding the o-line this season which is causing problems everywhere on offense along with a backup QB who is not playing at the level he should be in his third year on campus.

Leal is the only 5 star. Jackson and Peevy are 4 stars and Clemons is a 3 star JUCO

Kenyon Green is the only 5 star OL A&M has signed since 2003. Foster, Fatheree and Ogunbiyi are 4 star, Robinson is 3 star and Jahmir Johnson a 3 star transfer from UT

Demas only plays now because overrated as frick Caleb Chapman is injured. Muhammad should be playing over overrated as frick Jalen Preston but doesn't.

Those games were lost primarily due to a combination of poor offensive line play, receivers unable to get separation , and a quarterback unable to make accurate throws. Result was the opponent scored more than we did. Won’t necessarily blame the defense to the same degree as the offense, as the opponents did not exceed their season averages for points scored, but that logic is probably flawed.

Combination of missing elite level talent and depth at all positions, injuries forcing a lot of youth on the field, and most importantly, poor coaching and scheming considering those limitations. That cover enough of it for you? Or do I need to speak in words you understand like

“cUz WE r ovERraTeD ‘n SucK baLLz!”

Jimbo needs to figure out how to get the skill players like Muhammad involved more ASAP. They shouldn't have to wait years to get real PT.
