Can UGA secondary improve enough to not be a liability?

Front 7/8 are great. Secondary is our Achilles Heel against an elite opponent. Against Clemson, that Ngata guy was over 100 yards and no one was really able to handle him. Against South Carolina, Vann ate Kendrick and Speed alive on different plays and got 128 yards on 3 catches.

If I'm Auburn and especially Florida, I'm going to test the heck out of our secondary. The fact that Dan Jackson is getting so much playing time is not a good sign. Ringo needs all the reps he can get and probably Lassiter, too. Tykee Smith getting back should help some. We knew losing Stokes, Campbell, and Webb was going to hurt but we've got another couple of games to coach up the younger guys.

Vann dusted Speed twice and won a 50/50 ball from Kendrick. He couldn't be stopped.

And I agree that safety is thin. Really hoped David Daniel would be playing more by now.

ameer speed is not our regular, go-to CB that will be getting most of the action come jacksonville and onward. Ringo will continue getting better and tykee getting back makes everything better because we can slide brini down if needed. The only TRULY "weak link" we've seen thus far is ameer but I'm not really concerned about it.

South carolina made plays more than anything else. Tip your cap, more annoyed he had time to get the pass off.

David Daniel had a minor setback in August when he got hit by a car. Jalen Kimber was projected to be in the rotation but is coming back from a shoulder injury. He should be at 100% soon. Imagine this team without the injuries.

When you watch FL and AL both were getting the ball out pretty quickly to avoid the rush. We have to take that quick slant away from Bama and our DL needs to contain the QB for both teams rather than barrel upfield. I could see us dropping back a lot and trying to get pressure with our DL only because both teams were pretty good at throwing into the blitz.

That one jump ball with Kendrick should have been a knockdown but he thought he could pick it off. If he seats it with one arm instead of trying to catch it with 2 it’s an easy incompletion.

They got a few low% passes on man coverage. Nothing to see here.

Kimber needs surgery so he won’t be 100% before next year.

Don’t forget about Nyland Green as well… very talented but young.

We also moved that 4 star RB (Lovasea Carroll) to CB and Smart talked about his speed and size but no idea how that project has been coming along. I assume he was pretty raw as a CB.

Maybe. Maybe not. When we play a team with an OL that can hold up better against our DL, might be an issue that we don't have the kind of lockdown CBs we had last year. But Ringo is definitely getting better every week. Presumably Lassiter and Green will too. I think Speed is as good as he's going to get.

Well, then maybe we wont play aggressive bump man and stunt and attack the QB? Every one of those plays were great passes and catches. The only thing I can say is they could have gotten some more contact to disrupt the route and get their heads around. Still, the CBs were right there. Made them throw a perfect throw. Hats off to USC. Those were just great plays.

Kimber will not be 100% this season from the sound of things. Surgery will happen, just a question of whether he waits for the off-season and can get enough snaps to make it worth it to play through discomfort.

Speed is 6-3 210, he should be strictly bumping guys into next week. He's awesome at run support, so he will play a good bit.

Smith comes back soon, and one of the younger freshmen should separate. Lassiter gave up a catch but he looked decent overall.

I'm fine with what Ringo and Kendrick have going on. A guy like Smith should make a world of difference once keyed in.

If Kirby thinks it's an issue, it's an issue.

Some guy up there said Kimber should be 100% soon. He won't! He needs shoulder surgery but is trying to play through it. That's what.
