Surprised he made it this many seasons really. Seems like a good guy but overmatched.

Shitty coach who made shitty personnel decisions every year. 3+ years too late for this.

There's actually a story about it already

After years of unfulfilled promises and festering frustration over the direction of its underachieving football program, USC has fired football coach Clay Helton.

In a message posted to Twitter on Monday, USC athletic director Mike Bohn announced his decision to “make a change in the leadership of our football program” and thanked Helton for his time as coach.

Associate head coach Donte Williams is set to serve as USC’s interim head coach

Guarantee they aleast put feelers out about Lane's interest in the job. Seems like he's matured a bit.

I know they lamented not hiring Orgeron in 2019.

They can right the ship now.

I agree with USC firing him. I don't agree with them doing it after two games.

What makes the Stanford loss any worse than some of the other stinkers he's coached? This should have been done way before today. They've essentially flushed an entire season now.

Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

USCw and Tenner are still in competition to see who can fire the mostest coaches the fastest.
Mediocrity is the desire of these programs these days. Do they not realize that stability makes a program better in the long run.

I say that even though my own team dumped a Coach after two seasons (something I disagreed with). Even though we ended up with Coach Leach, whom I have always liked, I don’t like this musical chairs with coaches as I still think it is detrimental to a football program.

It is my hope that Coach Leach will be at State for 10 years before he retires.

Sadly, too many CFB programs treat their teams as microwaves instead of crock pots. They want instant gratification when a little patience could really pay off in the long run if you stick with a coach for a longer time.
