The clock is ticking for A&M

If they’re ever going to be an elite program, they’ve got to establish themselves as a championship team before Texas/Oklahoma join and starts picking off the elite recruits in Texas.
This year looks like they’re best shot with getting Alabama at home with the CBS night game. They’ve got to take advantage or they’re going to get left in the dust.

Are you saying that if we don't don't go 12-0 this year, we're going to get "left in the dust?"

Not much of a worry, thanks

Ehh, beating Bama isnt the lone factor. Ole Miss beat us back to back and they didn’t win shite. South Carolina beat us and they didn’t win shite. Auburn has beaten us and not won shite. Beating Bama will help, but the voters gotta do the right thing and put them in if their only loss is to Bama.

Obviously you missed the Jimbo extension. We’re going to thump both of the newbies when they finally drag their asses here.

I actually somewhat agree.
Don’t think we’ll be left behind at all because we’ll have substantial NIL sway but expectations wise - failure to make it to Atlanta within the next 2-3 years would be a major problem and piss a lot of people off.

aggy isn't winning anything EVER, they have this bizarre confidence at the beginning of the season and then the wheels fall off mid-season.

Not really a true statement

Excellent observation. You can sense the urgency from A&M to get it done this year. Which puts extreme pressure on Jimbo which was forced on him rather sudden like when it became known UT/OU were coming. Thus the reason for the extension he received. Added to the drama is the uncertainty of when the two shows up. It could happen as early as next season. Jimbo has got to get this done now.

Since you started jerking yourself to that meme during 2012 realignment, A&M has finished a season ranked higher than it started 3 times (‘12, ‘18, ‘20).
Texas 1 time (‘18).
Texas 1 time (‘18).

we are recruiting well and our coaching staff is sound. support is sound. NIL is sound.
doubtful we drop off much if at all when Texas and OU join, it's like everyone expects that to happen and not the complete reverse with OU and Texas, especially OU.

I agree the clock is ticking. It’s ticking for the rest of the SEC.
Funny that you view this in a now-or-never light, while A&M is viewing this as a blossoming program just starting to hit its stride.
Look, 98% of the ‘sips move to the SEC was because A&M COMPLETELY surpassed them as a program and they continued declining.
They may find their footing, but it wont be at the expense of Texas A&M.
If anything, some of you Alabama programs might find it more difficult to recruit Texas.

If Sumlin was still our coach, I might agree.
And btw, the sips on this site are like a freaking moth to a flame

Appreciate your concern but as long as A&M has the resources we have we will be fine. It is clear you are scared though.

The obsession with A&M continues.
Bleh.
Bleh.

It's nearly impossible for programs with A&M's wallet to get "left in the dust", at least permanently as you seem to be suggesting. You could could underperform for years but there's always going to be a nearly limitless money cannon aimed at the program until something sticks. Not bragging bout it at all, just the way it is.
But sure, if you say so.

How have y'all managed to parlay your level of resources into being further from your most recent national title than aforementioned title was to Lincoln's House Divided speech when he was still a senator?
It's a pretty amazing accomplishment I definitely tip my cap.

So many here are making silly assumptions about A&M's demise once the coattail riders finally join. Understandable to an extent, but it's more wishful thinking than anything else.

Well if you're interested in an honest argument, which I don't think you are, just limiting it to national championships is way too binary of an argument. Obviously.
Texas has a grand total of one national championship since 1970. Are you gonna tell me Texas hasn't had any success since 1970 outside of 2005? Because that's exactly what your post implies.
Yeah, I didn't think so.
