Bumping one of the few actual Football/sports related topics on this board.

Gives us the best chance for success. I think the upside of his mobility and willingness to challenge downfield throwing the ball will open up the offense over what we saw from Mond.
I think it would be hard to match 8 yard hitch/curl/out Mond as a senior accuracy, that was his bread and butter. But if he is half as effective as Mond for that aspect I think we will be better overall on offense for all the other things he brings.

Good deal. Hope Calzada stays sharp. His arm is a lightning bolt.

Thank goodness, just in time for Kent State.

King could be the guy that brings Jimbo’s offense into the 20th century

My gif selection was intentional.

But does he fear Mike Leach? Granted, this is really Leach’s first year at MSU because last year we didn’t even have spring ball etc.
He was 7-3 vs A&M when he coached Texas Tech. Leach usually doesn’t start winning until year 3 so you have a chance

Give us the rundown on this kid. More of a pocket guy or scrambler? Early ceiling comparison? Don’t bullshite us. Shoot us straight.

By the way, we’ve got this guy named JO'QUAVIOUS Marks. He’s a RB and is so good that we are actually using him to run the ball in practice. Leach seems to like the idea of defenses dropping 8.

King is a coach's kid, and state champion as well. Loves to throw downfield, and is very accurate. Can throw from the pocket or on the run - ran track in high school and has 4.4 speed. He will make mistakes
High upside, and picked up Fisher's playbook his first few months on campus. Weaker arm than Calzada, who has a freaking cannon.

First thing that came to mind when I saw the gif. Good work.

The first thing that jumps out is his athletic ability. He's a legit 4.5, maybe high 4.4 type. He ran track & played basketball.
As already mentioned he's a coach's son. He and his dad won a 6A (highest level) title at Longview. They've been around since the late 1800s and their only other title was in 1937. (You seeing the parallel?) After a monster JR year, the talent level around him dropped off significantly and his #s did too.
The 247 comp in his profile is Ryan Tannehill and I don't hate it. Throws a decent enough ball, can run, but I think the biggest difference between him & Tannehill or Mond will be the willingness and ability to throw the deep ball. Mond had the arm, but wasn't very accurate when attempted or wasn't willing to throw it if there wasn't huge separation. They're finding out in Miami right now that Tua is the same way. He's very good at throwing to guys who get open, but not the contested balls. The report is that King is able/willing to do so. We will have to find out.
On the flip side, more of the high risk throws will lead to more ints. Mond was excellent at taking care of the football later in his career. I would look for more explosive plays in the air and on the feet along with more turnovers for the young guy.

Second fastest guy on the team behind Achane, which is hard to believe. I'm expecting way more explosive plays in comparison to Mond. Not afraid to take chances and much quicker to resort to using his legs.
