Many years ago (30 or so) we went to the Gator Nationals.

We ate at a steakhouse in Gainesville where you selected your steak, then grilled it on the grill yourself.

What was the name of that place, and is it still around?

So what was the point of going to a steakhouse?

There is a place like that in Oakdale called Ms. Mays Cafe...

Seems like I can do that at the grocery store or grab some steaks from the local butcher shop. If I went to a place to sit down and eat and they told me I had to cook my own food I’d fricking laugh at them

To answer your question about whether that place is still around. I’m gonna go out a limb here and say no ??

1. It's cooked the way you want it.
2. It was an excuse to stand around and drink and talk bullshite while trying to look like a grill master.
3. They had only high quality cuts of meat.
4. We enjoyed it.

I don't know man, just seems like it'd be easier to this at home.

To each his own though.

1. Make them cook it the way you want it
2. You can still have drinks and mingle
3. No place that serves the highest quality meats would let you cook it yourself
4. Glad you enjoyed it

The idea of this steakhouse has obviously caused your tampon to leak.

I'm asking Gator fans for the name of the place. Not your opinion on the business model.

Don't go if you make it to Gainesville. Problem solved.

The only places I know you cook your own meat is a Korean BBQ places, maybe you took a cooking class and thought it was a restaurant?

I was drunk enough that could have happened.

It will come to me, drawing a blank right now. That location used to be Rickey’s raw bar in the 80’s and then it changed to the place you are talking about in the 90’s.
It was on 13th street south of Archer rd.

We were talking about it the other night. None of us could remember the name.

I know this doesn’t help you, but Fayetteville had one of those places. Called Butcherblock.

Used to get drunk there… now it’s a Kum N Go.
