In that scenario, Mizzou would get left out but that's ridiculous to me.
No way that those schools want to play that schedule. The season would basically just be a 16 team tournament. Players wouldn't make it through the season and they won't like that if it hurts their NIL deals.

This article works on the premise that media markets don't matter. Well regardless of the teams in the"super conference" ESPN has to sell advertising. The money doesn't come from networks, it comes from advertising. The SEC is blessed with great football talent and cursed by consumer demographics. The SEC footprint includes the lowest income, education and resistance to marketing "inclusion." Just watch the SEC network, very few national brands and alot of regional advertising.
Mizzou owns markets that are desired by national brands. Our markets are a good transition between the deep south and the West or North. Thats vital as we see a shift in marketing and advertising. As the ad says, it's all about the money.

THat's a great point. Being the most northern program in the league helps a ton.

That article is basically spelling out a British style Premier league and Champions league for college football where teams go back and forth between the two based on how well they perform. I’d rather do that than be sent to a permanently lesser league or conference but a 16 team SEC is definitely preferred.
*thanks Ted Lasso for helping me understand the premiere league and relegation!

I would say we are on the knife edge of inclusion. A consistent winning program over the next decade in THIS conference would place us solidly "in", IMHO.

Any dipshit can write an article, we will be fine

It would not surprise me if 5yrs after joining, Texas will start bitching about revenue sharing, with the same mentality that sunk the B12, and point to smaller schools as not producing enough cash. It also wouldn't surprise me if they even float the idea of replacing these smaller schools with better revenue producing schools.
But it's still a conference with 14, and soon to be 16 members. Everybody has a vote. I'm sure alliances would be made. If Vandy is kicked out, who's next? There's also tradition and rivalries. It's much easier to leave, than it is to get kicked out.

Schools don't produce the revenue for the conferences. TV contracts and bowl contracts produce the revenue. Filling your stadium and selling beer, hot dogs etc benefit the school directly. Those revenues aren't shared.

I hate this article. A lot.
We got in early. We were right. How is this somehow twisted into a negative?
Content should be based around elevating the program, recruiting momentum, or the facilities that have been continuously upgraded over the past 10 yrs.
Not this hypothetical “we don’t belong” BS.

If a super conferences comes to pass there is going to be massive change for a lot of teams that were used to being top dog. The recruits will be either spread out enough to where teams are pretty close to even talent wise or there is going to be a mega top dog. I imagine it will go a bit more like the NFL where, for the most part, the differences are in the coaching/scheming. Whether Mizzou is competitive in this new NIL focused sport remains to be seen by the Mizzou Money Makers. Are they going to bankroll it or not. That is all college football is now, who has the biggest checkbook.
With that being said, long term wise esports is the money maker and it would be wise for Mizzou to follow that long term so we could be a blue blood of the most profitable sport.

That was a dumb article. None of that is going to happen and Mizzou would never be left out of the party.

Explain this to me

We're going to be fine. Mizzou is bringing too much to the table. These types of thoughts/articles are not helping us though and in the end only cast doubt.

Eh. Fans and media have been beaten down forever. It’s up to Mizzou to change the narrative. Show Me.

But why cast a completely hypothetical doubt onto a fanbase that you just acknowledged has been "beaten down forever"?
It is up to us to change the narrative your right. So why is a True Son website writing such a useless degrading article?!
EDIT: Do better Rock M Nation. Do Better.

If you want consistently horrible takes on everything, go to RockM.

I stopped going to RockM at all 2 years ago, and it was obvious before then that a talent exodus had happened already.

There's so many job opportunities with streaming. The sports don't have real risk of injury. You can play video games forever. The market is growing huge.
This is just really now taking off in the United States. It would take some sort of domination akin to the Nick Saban era of Alabama to make Mizzou a blue blood in football, which really isn't likely to occur ever again for any team. But we could invest in something new that has no signs of slowing down. We jump in now, go full tilt, we are the blue blood.
I, of course, want Mizzou to dominate at football and maybe it will happen. I enjoy the football too. I just want to be the best at something
