Does anyone have any clue what this is about? I can't find anything on local news other than carrying live.

Not sure...We tuned in late so missed the most important part. Sounds like its a discussion to let masks in public schools be up to each individual district.

He’s declaring some emergency thing- to get help from other states as in healthcare workers and also federal some ‘surge’ team that will come in and analyze the situation and help.

There’s some kind of law that takes power away from local schools as far as having decision making powers that he’s going to try to get the legislature to nullify for now since some areas are affected more than others with corona. This is all because of the upsurge in young people getting it and that folks under 12 don’t even have the option to get it.

He is not declaring a mask mandate tho and from how it sounded he will not.

I’m at the beach and already drinking so hopefully this makes sense mostly.

Oh I’m not mad- I’m ready for shite to get back to normal. I like the sound of the local folks having their own decision making though.

To be honest, I couldn’t argue with a thing Asa said today. We, adults, have the option to take the shot or not so while he said the % of vaccinated needs to go up, he’s not going to force anything on us.

Except, local folks (individual parents) WERE making their own decisions regarding children wearing masks until today.

Now, not so much as that decision making is out of my hands.

It would be a whole other thing if there was empirical evidence that masks worked. All you have to do is look at Sweden. Almost no deaths for two straight weeks now and they never closed schools and their government doesn't even RECOMMEND masks.

Well I can’t argue with you, I think I’m just glad there’s no mask mandate. I don’t have kids in school so that part really just sounded good to me but you make a good point.

Just read KNWA headline and it is very misleading

He did not ask for the lift mask mandate ban at schools/ He simply said he wanted to let schools make own decisions and give kids safest environment.

Chad Mira is happiest when he is speaking about COVID,.. KNWA has become Lioneld

To me it felt as if he said School Districts can tell their employees they have to be vaccinated or they can go somewhere else to work.

Only because we aren't used to it. Probably isn't a big deal to other countries/cultures who grow up wearing other types of face coverings.

It does make me wonder when in society it was deemed appropriate to have to wear shirts and pants though lol. Wonder if people complained about it back then.

He and the Leg took local control out of the picture earlier this year with not allowing schools/cities, municipalities to have any kind of a mandate.

As a parent of a young child, We spoke to our child about what she wanted to do. We will be going virtual this first semester. There are some underlying health conditions to consider in this though. It isn't for everyone, but if the local school doesn't allow it, we will simply pull her from the local school, funding, etc and do it via online with aided help from tutors, and ourselves.

Look at the numbers currently at Children's Hospital, they are a bit scary with our younger kids not being targeted by this variant.

People just need to live their fricking lives. There's also politicians mandating what we can and can't do. More government....what we all need

You better hope you're in the lucky half. Nowadays, not so sure which is which.

Of course the flu may pump those numbers up this fall from the maskers and vaxxers weakened immune systems.

Can't wait.

The scare tactics being used by the media with this are sickening. Kids being hospitalized are kids with underlying conditions. Last week there were 12 in ACH and 10 had Leukemia. It hits kids in situations like that hard.

Generally healthy children fight this off just like they do the cold.

If your child has underlying conditions definitely do a home based education and keep that baby safe.
