Wondering when it will come out that going to SEC was OUs idea.

For all the bluster about culture and Academics the SEC never fit the Texass narrative. They imagine themselves as Berkeley or Standford in academic stature.
My guess is OU decided they were tired of the B12 misfits and said it is time to go to the SEC. OU wanted nothing to do with PAC the last time Texass tried to cut a deal for A&M, OU, and Tech. Prett certain They let Texass know they were going to reach out to SEC with or without Texass and that started it rolling. Kept OUs hands relatively clean.
Texass needed OU a hell of a lot more than OU needed Texass. OU to SEC was going to happen and it would have been welcomed. Going to come out this was an OU puppet master move that was brilliantly played.
A great move for OU.

Cope. If anything it was the other way around since the B1G wouldn't take OU

I’m not against Texass and OU joining. I look forward to the games vs both.

We were officially done with the BIG XII when the Nebraska game this year was moved to 11am kickoff, and the BIG XII refused to get involved, and FOX sports shrugged us off. Castiglione was pissed.
Who's shrugged off now?

Sshhhhhhh.
All negative narratives are put on Texas and OU is just the football school.
This is the way.

If you need anything to tell you how hard it is for aggies to cope with the sec saying the Longhorns matter more, just look at the childish nicknames

I heard about that. One thing not often talked about was the ending of the OU Nebraska series. A game I looked forward to watching every year.
I’m a fan of A&M. A fan of interesting quality games. A fan of rivalry games. I don’t blame A&M as an institution trying to block Texass from getting into the SEC. it’s been a huge leveling of the playing field in recruiting in every way vs Texass. Undeniable.
Even with Texass coming to the SEC they will never ever again enjoy the huge financial advantage they once had. Those days are gone and ironically they were the main culprit in destroying advantages they had.
They done fricked it all up for themselves.

This is the site where aggy whines about Daddy all day.
Pretty interesting. I see why the SEC had to bring us in. It was like we were already in the conference.

I think you are right about OU being the impetus for this move. If you look, OU has been making very public statements about how the B12’s actions have been financially (recruiting, TV times etc) detrimental to OU. This sets up nicely for them to argue breach of fiduciary duty in order to get out of the contract. I would say Texas saw what was going on and decided to get involved….as much as I dislike Texas, their lawyers aren’t stupid.

Witb the curent admins and ADs at both schools, I bet it was just a mutual agreement to move out of the Big 12 and then they weighed options and decided on the SEC. This is not the old days of DeLoss Dodds at Texas where everything was "We're Texas" and "We'll change the world." The 2 schools have a pretty good partnership now that they don't want to lose.
The rumors that the BIG would not take OU and then Texas told them to pound sand may be true. The BIG wants schools that are members of AAU and OU is not. The BIG can raid the PAC and get all the AAU members they want so in reality they don't desparately need Texas and OU but were stupid to turn them down if all the rumors are true...

I think that is when the fans checked out, but yall were done in 2016 when the Big 12 didn't expand.
It was clear that up to that point the administration at OU really believed in the Big 12 and thought it could work. Most people think OU pushed for expansion to try and make the league more viable long-term.
I think once the league shopped around the writing was on the wall: there was no future for the Big 12, no magic bullet to make it a respectable conference again.
The problem for OU was twofold: 1. they had to make sure if they were going to leave OSU behind every other option was explored which did happen. and 2. In 2016 the buyout on the Big 12 GOR was something like $300 million

I like picking on Aggie just as much as the next guy, but childish nicknames have been an SEC staple since the 1200 baud modem.
