Ou & Tx just issued a joint statement

"The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Oklahoma notified the Big 12 Athletic Conference today that they will not be renewing their grants of media rights following expiration in 2025. Providing notice to the Big 12 at this point is important in advance of the expiration of the conference’s current media rights agreement. The universities intend to honor their existing grant of rights agreements. However, both universities will continue to monitor the rapidly evolving collegiate athletics landscape as they consider how best to position their athletics programs for the future."

So does that mean they would buyout the remaining rights or wait until 2025

I feel bad for the intern who drew this up, probably super excited that he was going to write the statement that changed college football so much. And then, To get his thunder stolen so badly just a few days before that it’s just ends up being an afterthought.

I hope it takes until 2025, to make for the most awkward seasons of Big 12 athletics ever

So big 12 is dead then. AAC gonna beef up an become power 5 or is it just gonna be 4 now?

I mean if this goes through great but who can ever take “the Red River Rivalry” serious again with all this going down with UT and OU in complete cahoots.
Don’t ever compare this game to the iron bowl

That bolded part of the statement is basically saying "don't be surprised when we kick rocks before the media rights expiration date."

Can't wait for shite like this:
1.Texas goes to Moo State and loses.
2. They get Greg Sankey on the phone and tell him they don't like the cowbells. They want the cowbells gone.
3. Greg Sankey outlaws cowbells.
Imagine that x 1 billion. That's the snakes y'all are letting in here. All the people who want this are thinking "No, Texas is gonna do it OUR way. This is OUR conference..."
Think again.
