Texas has a lot of power but they have already screwed over SMU, Rice, and UH and now they are screwing Tech, TCU, and Baylor while A&M sure as hell is opposed as well. That's 7 schools and a LOT of bad blood.
Baylor has always had surprising power, that's how they got in the B12 and they tried like hell to stop A&M to the SEC. The key moment was Dodds saying that as long as Texas stayed the B12 would survive.
Now Texas wants to say FU to everyone. BTW, it's not necessarily about this bill actually passing so much as making Texas pause and fear consequences. The nuclear weapon is that they get 2/3rds of the Permanent University Fund while A&M gets 1/3rd. Tech and UH and the other Publics have wanted a piece of that extra 1/3rd Texas has for decades but A&M has stood with Texas to stop it. That's why Texas has a $31 Billion Endowment and A&M is $13 Billlion. It's probably a $10 Billion swing, the equivalent of most of the SEC schools combined. Enough to completely change the landscape for several schools.
That's why Texas needs to be careful, that PUF money is the biggest source of their power and influence and it has never really been threatened, only lightly discussed. This is the kind of thing that could change that. It's also a reason why Texas will only go so far in messing with A&M. No doubt they could cause us tremendous pain as well but the PUF is the nuclear option.

frick Baylor and Texas Tech.....Either adapt or be eaten

Yes, that’s exactly how this works.

Tough shite for them. It's a done deal.

Neither state can STOP a program from moving to a more competitive relevant conference. They can drag shite out and make it hard but it fundamentally can’t work and can’t be enforced. If Texas doesn’t want to play in the big 12 anymore they can leave. Very simple.

Do you know darn good and well it has nothing to do with us dumbass, we’ve made more money than you for several years, you’re about to pull the financial rug out from underneath three other colleges in the state of Texas and they are the ones that are not happy
Posted on 7/23/21 at 4:39 pm to Boomer00
You’re right, they couldn’t stop them but they can financially cripple them to make them not do it if they chose to., That’s a fact

Afraid it is not that simple. But if they do try a pull this, the Feds can pull their money based on violation of Federal Law. Who do you think contributes more money ?

And if this bill miraculously passes.. Governor Abbott will get his veto stamp out and it will be squashed. He is a Texas alum and I’m sure this has already been discussed with him.

He has an election coming up. Not a good situation for him to be in.
Posted on 7/23/21 at 4:50 pm to BigBro
He wouldn’t and you know he wouldn’t. But if the bill passed I don’t think it would stop the move, just complicate things longer

1. You've "made more money" through donations for capital campaigns. Look at your actual revenue numbers.
2. Your TV revenue advantage is gone. We're coming. We'll get that same check.
3. You leaked this in a desperate attempt to try and get the Big 12 schools/legislators to stop it. You gave up your time in the light at your own media days and instead of talking about your team, you spent the whole time complaining about us and exposing just how tied your identity is to us, the SEC, and those that actually win in the SEC. It's over. You're back to trying to sell College Station and your fake army corp.

This isn’t the 60’s anymore
Aggie has way better facilities and a better campus than your meth house surrounded Soviet style homeless camp

most of those politicians care about schools not named texas University.
So, the state legislature is anti-Texas, yet you all still let Texas call the shots in the SWC and then run you out of the Big 12?
