Is 16 enough? Go big or go home, right?

Why stop with tu/OU?
Why not really go after all the top regional schools?
Clemson & Florida St would be musts. By doing so you've basically locked in the top schools in the nation outside of Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan, Wisco, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Nebraska, Miami, & Notre Dame. Outside of Miami, all those are well outside of the SEC footprint. Georgia Tech would be the only main in-state rival not in the conference at this point.
There will be no need for any playoff expansion. The top 2 SEC teams vs the top 2 of the rest. Never match up the SEC teams in the first round and you just may get an all-SEC title game routinely.
If you wanted to expand then move it to 8. 4 SEC vs 4 of the rest. Once we have 18 schools (~12 of the top 20 programs), who's going to tell us no?

This is a pro-expansion post. I see what the 16 team conference could do. I think an 18 team could do even more. Total college football control.

For real though we should bring FSU in. Clemson as well but they like where they are.
And I see FSU leaving, especially if OU and Texas do.

This 24 hour news cycle has broken most of you down to vapor.
And it’s fun to watch.

Frick Georgia Tech, they bolted thinking they were better than everyone else.

They wouldn't get an invite even in this extra expanded conference.

The hindsight of that decision is so beautiful to look back upon
Nothing better than watching the worst people you know crash and burn in the slowest motion possible

It will end up being 4 16-team Power Conferences. SEC, Pac, Big10, ACC. B12 will dissolve.
Those left out will go to the group of 5 conferences, and will hopefully have their own post-season. This will keep interested and money in smaller programs.

There is no way there are 48 other teams on the same level as the SEC. There just isn't enough depth. If we add 2 (to 18) more then it completely destroys that possibility.

This is definitely a great way to grow the game nationally and not just regionally. Kids in the Pacific Northwest, Northeast, etc will grow up going to games and tuning in to late night broadcasts. They’ll experience everything there is to love about the game firsthand.
Not.
Why stop at 18? Go to 32? Hell, go to 64. We can call it the SEC. Then break it into these mini-conferences with regional rivalries. Michigan and ND could play every year. USC v UCLA. Etc. It would be an unheard of way to structure the sport.

But this will never happen. There is no leadership at the top to make it so. The closest we get is SEC expanding and dictating terms.

Told yall last year. Bring on FSU & Clemson. UVA and UNC would be icing on the cake.
