How bad would it be to do what we did with the South Endzone for the whole stadium? I was pretty young so I dont remember how long it took, but a happy medium might be doing one section at a time over the course of 6 years? You might sacrifice seating capacity in the short term, but that seems like a better option than blowing up the stadium and playing at Oxford High for a few years.

So it looks like they are more concerned with building new lounges and clubs on the west side than any exterior visuals. They want to do "patio clubs" like they attempted to do at the top of the student section two years ago and failed, "ledge seating" where there's rows of 2ft deep ledge with barstools like you're sitting at a bar, and "living room boxes" where you have a lounger and tvs in a small vip box. All of these would include private club and restrooms, along with secluded concession areas and possibly waiter service.

Yea, they just want to add more premium seating over anything else. They couldn't care less that the rest of the stadium is a complete mess

That was a legit fyre fest marketing of what it was supposed to be vs what it ended up as- ( 3 grove tents setup in the bleachers )

I mean, I get the money thing...but adding something like that would just be an absolute joke. You think Tiger Stadium, Bryant Denny or Jordan Hare have that shite? Any team that's serious about football understands theres a fine balance between club/regular seating. Of course there has to be club seats (like I said, money) but at some point we have to figure out how to get as many people as possible in there. No one thinks the vaught is hostile and something like that would only make that reputation worse

The new club seats discussed in this thread are another iteration of the rampant corporatization of college football. The common man's game in the South is no more.

Also, the Vaught will never be "hostile." The banking of the stands is not steep enough to keep noise in, not to mention we rarely pack the place because we're routinely fair to middling.

2013-2014 were pretty hostile. Go back and watch the 2013 A&M game and I've never heard it as loud as it was in the 3rd quarter when the whole stadium was chanting "Defense" in unison.

2003 LSU pick 6 to open the game was the only time I've heard it louder

They are trying to turn the stadium into too much of a social setting and not a football game. Why would people want to pay a ton of money to stand on a patio in the stadium with horrible views of the field when you can sit in the Grove during the game for free and drink for free and watch the game with a better view on tv. I can understand it being a place to go during halftime but I don't see the benefit of these spaces during a game.

Exactly.

To the hostility point: it definitely can be hostile as Henry mentioned. Part of that includes keeping a good head coach/players that will continue to generate enthusiasm in the program. Additionally, I think if the North, East and West sides were mirrors of the South endzone, the overhangs/clubs could help give our stadium a better atmosphere. I'm not saying we need 100k. Obviously that would be stupid because we couldn't fill it. But we need to get to about 70 and design it to A) make it more aesthetically pleasing and B)louder.

Patio seating ain't gonna do either of those.

Add this to the north end zone. Either for students or a tiny rebel club. It would be nice to have a place for hot games. Instead of leaving go to this. VERY hypothetical.

UK is basically the stadium I would want to replicate given our resources. They have it going on since their last renovation

Even if that club wasn't for the students, they'd still at least be able to go sit up under them in the shade. It'd basically be the same thing as those stupid tents from two years ago.

I definitely think it should NOT be for students though. They'll all go up there and never come out and the student section will be empty all game.

Which is why I think it was dumb to put them on the other side of the stadium. The student section 2013-2015 was 1000x better than it is now

I think Baylor’s stadium should be the model only bigger. I also like Kansas State’s press box and suites. There are better concepts out there than Kentucky’s IMO.

I don't think we need a capacity of 60,000.

K-State's Bill Snyder Family Stadium is very nice inside and out. Baylor's McLane Stadium is even nicer. Neither of them seat over 50,001. I'd love it if we could downsize to around 55,000 - 60,000 or so and make all four sides of the stadium match. When we are good, we put more than 60k folks in the stands. When we are bad, we don't. Either way, the stadium is a mismatched hodgepodge and needs a reboot.

total home games/home games with an attendance of greater than 55,000
2019 - 7/0
2018 - 7/4
2017 - 7/6 (there were not 62k people at our game versus UT-Martin )
2016 - 7/7
2015 - 7/7

Are you European? Why do you put the numerator on the right side of the slash?

For any State fans that are lurking, the numerator is the number that goes on top of a fraction.

First of all, I feel personally attacked by this post. Secondly, I wasn't trying to divide anything or make a fraction. Third,

Lol. I understand you weren't dividing anything, but it just doesnt make sense and really bothered me. Reading left to right as we do in America, it does not make sense to have the aggregate or total first. You were displaying a ratio.

No, I wasn't.
