Gogue planted his VP Lt. Gen Burgess in the Athletic Dept and supposedly to take care of issues that seemed to include coaches concerned and ticked about their budgets and the micro managing of things like buses vs planes, cheaper hotels, etc.It would appear Greene has upset a lot of folks and even after covid he rarely comes in the office and does most of his stuff on zoom and has others delegated to doing things he normally does. take it with a grain of salt but it is on another site. i think him stepping in to do a real search instead of letting Steele have the job is at the root of a lot but not all of it{ my personal opinion}.He made a lot of the PTB's mad and now trimming budgets and how has almost all of athletic departments upset.

I posted this topic in another thread that was bashing Greene. It got crickets. I guess people don’t care.

So this is a weird situation because I think everyone has been behind AG after the Harsin hire, but this situation paints him in a negative light (essentially holding athletic programs back due to budget issues). Supposedly Burgess is there to make sure the programs have what they need to compete with our rivals, which is something we've all been asking for. I'm not really sure what to make of it all, but I hope in the end we don't have another athletic disaster like 2020. Maybe we'll finally start seeing the financial moves we've been asking for.

Has Green been job searching for awhile? Has he interviewed at different places for the AD position? Is this rumor or fact? Have heard it but I don't know if true.

How many times does this have to be stated on this board: AUBURN HAS NO frickING INSIDERS!!!! They don't exist. No one you know or have any interaction with has inside information on the Auburn athletic department. Everything you hear like this is supposition or innuendo. Bama on the other hand......

Again, zero proof. The old guard is mad they are losing power and put out rumors. So glad JJ/Gus are gone. Time to purge their supporters.

Smoke and mirrors by powerful boosters trying to oust Greene and regain the power to disgrace Auburn

I am super grateful that Greene stopped the money folks from installing Steele or some other less than desirable hire, took control of the search, and ended up hiring a qualified outsider like Harsin.

That alone earned him enough good will from me that I'll be pissed if they let him go. It's hard for me to let budget cuts in a pandemic year with a massive buy-out to pay overrule that.
