Y’all think players will get paid to throw games now under disguise as NIL?

Are casinos off limits for NIL representation (ie, sports betting)? Conflict of interest risk is definitely there, if I hear your good point.

Think about it, Georgia fans are desperate for a title. Hell A&M fans probably are too at this point.
What’s gonna stop a booster from paying Bryce Young or another star QB 50k for a birthday “appearance” to throw a game. If you know you are gonna get drafted first round, why not make an extra 50k and you only lose 1 game.

While I hear your point, reputation (forever...to your university, team, family, and eventual grandchildren) is the answer to your question.
Not naive, though, you have a point.

The players I've heard getting all excited for NIL are those who don't give two fricks about any of that, nor their education as a whole anyway.
This is gonna be a wild experiment.

Or just win the game and get more NIL money than before

Will be interesting to see how the so called college football amateur sport unveils its true self, w/NIL:
The university perspective (is the athlete loyal to the university), the athlete's perspective (is the university loyal to the athlete), the 3rd party who is throwing $ NIL money at the athlete (is the 3rd party loyal to either the university or the athlete)...real motivation is / was.
Listen with your eyes, w/NIL!

This is extremely illegal in the US and he could face prison time for doing it.
Even if he did manage to get past the prison time, the NFL would ban him from ever playing for them.
So you think a kid that is likely already going to have plenty of money from other deals is going to throw a game for a small amount of money in which he risks his entire future for it?
I think the better question would be - will a crackhead ever be the starting QB at a major program. Because it would take a crackhead to be dumb enough to do this.

Good thread. Interesting thought. How about a collegiate "Bountygate"? A headhunter like that Clemson player who won't have a career at the next level. Think many of them won't be up for some hits for hire cash disguised as any number of legit opportunities?

I don’t think we’ll see much of that… but it could bring into question point shaving?
Two QBs have the same sponsor… sponsor wants both to have a good outing so it increases visibility in a higher profile game?

This is probably why an 18 year old shouldn't be making that money out of the gate when he hasn't actually proven himself, yet.
And these dudes are already taking money from universities and risking their futures lol, there's a certain amount of foresight that, SEC Rant Posters possess, that these guys will forgo in a heartbeat if it means they can get a little richer a little quicker.

Possible but improbable. The players worth paying are going to the NFL anyway

With NIL a player’s “brand” is their biggest tool to cash in before the pros. You know what’s bad for your brand? Being the reason your team lost a game

I really like this point. The money from NIL is a drop in the bucket compared to their real goal which is the nfl. Have an upvote from me.

an obscure OG or OT not making crap off endorsements sees his star QB, RB or WR raking in the $$$. One of the many "agents" now hanging around the P-5 programs goes up to the kid and says,"If you'll just miss a block and let a play blow up at a critical time, I've got a pocket full of $$$ for you. You won't have to lose the game, just miss the line.

Fellas, within the next couple of years, we're gonna see stuff happening that we never dreamed would/could happen.
It's been a great ride, but now we're gonna have to watch it implode.
