Really, Stallings would never do something like that. Neither would, say, Pat Dye.

I do not think either Stallings or Dye were ready to quit coaching. But they were loyal. When it was their time to go they accepted it. When Dye announced his retirement, he said he did not want to remain and hurt what he had helped build. Since then, Dye has worked behind the scenes to make AU better.

The scenario is extremely unlikely, but I imagine someone might send him death threats.

He was well past his prime in 79. He was 3 years from death.

If Joe Pa or Bowden ever retired, you think they would live long there after ?

ETA: If either one retired and dies, you think they the school's fanbase would be like Alabaama and Bear ?

What if Bear left Bama in '74 to coach the Houston Oilers, and then came back to LSU in '76 or so?

Like I said, unlikely bordering on snowball's chance in hell, but if it happened, he would have likely received death threats.

Joe Pa and Bowden are living for that shite. They will both die not long after retiring.

He likely could never enter the state of Alabama again without getting hit with a sniper's shot.

I would hope so, but maybe not.

No. There is too much parity now and they have not dominated like the Bear. Their are many that have said for years they have been there too long already. I think they will be appreciated more as the years go by but never to the extent Bear is.

Plus Bear left a few years removed from back to back championships.

Trio of Lights,

You are a sad little man. You say you don't care about LSU, yet you are constanly on an LSU board stirring up junk. It sounds like you are in denial and you are the one who is envious and insecure. I bet that you were one of the many Bammers hoping that Saban would be able to hire Muschamp from Auburn and Jimbo Fisher so that you could recreate the LSU experience. You were probably also one of the many Bammers hoping that Saban could recruit Louisiana players.

Bama fans are so envious of LSU it is pathetic and funny. That is why you hired Saban and why you constantly disparage Miles. Once you stop posting on an LSU BOARD then your little comments about obsession might hold water. As it is, you are the one who is obsessed.

Don't know for sure, but don't think so. I got into some shite with him some time back and thought he was an idiot. The more time goes by, I don't think so anymore. He seems to be pretty cool. I think.

I kind of figured that that you would respond to a thread with "shite" in the title.

What else can explain how he plays the big boys tough week in and week out but has serious problems with the scrubs?
Like Miles at Tulane last year; Tressel at OU last week; Carr against Appy St...It more common than you think.

You can talk it up but players recognize the difference and it's hard to "get up" for those games like a "big game". On the other side it's their BCS bowl so they're pumped.

Just for the record, his last championship was 4 years before he died. He won 6 National championships in 24 years and was screwed out of two. That is an average of 1 every 4 years and twice he won NC's back to back. His entire career was his prime. He was the best football coach that has ever lived and that can not be argued by anyone with an IQ.

Y'all may proceed with your foolishness now, I just wanted to clear that up.
