The obsession is that he turned out to be a liar. Not to LSU per se but to Wayne Huizenga and the entire Dolphins organization. For example, he told his coaches he was leaving by text message after telling them it was all BS. He'd been after the Bama job since October when he saw he couldn't win without a massive talent advantage. Even the national press thought he was dishonest to an honorable man and his organization. We thought we knew the real Saban and he turned out to be nothing more than an opportunist and a manipulator. All from a man who demands loyalty. From a man who doesn't practice what he preaches. (Good luck recruiting south Florida.}

Again, for the sake of argument, if Saban had gone from Bama to LSU (even without the intervening disloyalty to the Dolphins and their fans), what would the Gumps say?

You supposedly have someone who you wouldn't trade for anyone, so why is there this obsession with Saban?

Again...insecurity.

The only true obsession of hatred I've ever had as an LSU football fan was with Nebraska. I hated them for years and years and years. All I wanted was for LSU to beat Nebraska, to be good enough to beat the Huskers in the trenches. Even after LSU beat UF in '97, all I could keep muttering is, "Now we have to get our program just one step farther to where we can beat Nebraska."

If you grew up a Tiger fan in the 80's, you'd understand. I almost felt the same way about Bobby Knight in basketball, but not quite. I pretty much stopped watching basketball when Dale Brown started going down in flames.

This argument is old and outplayed...again, bottom line is if you were so happy with Miles why in the flip would you care what he does over at Bama? It doesn't matter. Florida doesn't obsess over Spurrier and South Caro.

Depends on the timeline and what he had accomplished.

I actually like Saban now. He just pissed me off when he was coaching LSU.

TrioOfLights (whatever that means),
Please answer the question. I mean, we know what you guys did to Coach Bill Curry even though he won a lot of games...

Imagine the freaking meltdown in Gumpland had Stallings won a National Championship, left for another NFL job and then came back to Auburn. They would be pissed and calling him every name in the book. Very few LSU fans would have cared if he left and went to say Penn State but coming to one of our biggest rivals is a bit much.

Do not forget that he supposedly made contact with well connected people at LSU when he figured out the NFL was a mistake and basically asked if they would let him have is job back and can Miles. That didn't work so Mr. Egomaniac decided to go to one of our biggest rivals to prove that it was he who made LSU and not the other way around.

So you wonder why LSU fans are a little bitter toward the whole situation? Put yourself in our shoes.

Don't you just love the word supposedly ?

My SOURCES say he SUPPOSEDLY wears LSU boxers while he walks the sidelines at Bama games

I agree. The point is that the hate that exists between Alabama and Auburn is exponentially greater than Alabama and LSU and the comparison does not hold water.

True. The hate between LSU and Bama is mostly recent and due to Saban. Sure LSU may not have liked Bama but it was not hatred for a bitter rival.

The AU/Bama hate spans generations and is much worse.
