It's another year with an embarrassment of riches at running back.
We have four backs with over 5ypc from last year that are returning this year.
Cook (#2 in SEC)

Of the top 20 rb's (ypc) that are returning for 2021 in the SEC -
UGA - 4
TAMU- 3
Auburn - 2
South Carolina - 2
UK - 1
LSU - 1
Tenn - 1
Mizzou - 1
LSU - 1
Arky - 1
Ole Miss - 1
Bama - 1
Florida 0

That could also been seen as a negative? RBs are not an indicator for offensive success anymore. Your post also could indicate a terrible passing game.

Uhhhh...you not familiar with the Dansiah?

i thought LSU was the only school that could anoint mediocre QBs as the messiah of the program

I like our chances with Brian Robinson, Roydell Williams, Keilan Robinson, Jase McClellan, Camar Wheaton and hopefully a healthy Trey Sanders.

The group we have is ok. Weaker, obviously, than the Chubb/Michel/Swift year. I also don’t think it’s as good as Swift/Holyfield year. My hopes rest on McIntosh and Milton stepping up to be a truly great RB.

Alabama, yet again, will have the best back by the end of the year

Now do a minimum of 50 carries....

Alabama, yet again, is the most insufferable fanbase

??
You think McIntosh is better than Cook?
Still don't get the disrespect he gets from UGA fans and the guy is also a lock to play on Sundays.

It's all about the passing game these days
3 yards and a cloud of dust in the run game is all but extinct

You gotta have a good run game but the way offenses are setup the tailback is definitely complimentary rather than central to good schemes.
If you can't throw, you will get exposed at some point. UGA ought to be able to throw it around but will the scheme unshackle the QB to do it?

there's a coach who's already thought about this and he's ready to recruit 5-11 245 lb rbs that run 4.7s .........Nick Saban

I don’t think Cook will ever be at the level of Chubb/Michel/Swift at UGA. I still have hope that maybe McIntosh or Milton could be one day. Cook is a good offensive weapon. I’ve been kinda unimpressed more with Zamir than him. But he’s got robo knees so that might be why.

I think Milton is the real deal and hopefully Zamir keeps progressing.
I'd put him in the Musa Smith/Holyfield category but I was expecting more from em like you and it could be he'll never be the same pre-injury.

I get your point, but wasn't he counting players from the other teams without 50 carries?

In 3 years at UGA Jake Fromm three for 300 yards 4 times and never 400.
In 4 games last year Daniels threw for 400 twice and 299 another time.
It looked to me like we will throw more. Will we be better, who the hell knows

Sure but let's not forget that both
Bama in '20 and LSU in '19 had 1st rd RB's
in their backfield.

Cfbstats, my link, defaults to 40 carry minimum and also had to play in 75% of games or some such, I don't have it open right now but it seems like an even appraisal. Cfbstats decided the criteria, not like i massaged it to make uga look better.
