LSU wanted Arkansas, and congrats to them

Yep

The only SWC team I ever pulled for.

I miss the Friday after Thanksgiving games.

Texas and Florida State were our first choices but they both declined. But we needed 12 teams for the SECCG so we settled for Arky and SCar.

As a Tennessee fan a Virginia or North Carolina school were preferable. NC State and Virginia were my first choices and both would have been upgrades over a Mid West Arky team. One this time and one instead of also Mid West Mizzou.

I can’t speak for everyone but if I were to guess, we didn’t mind Arkansas and Carolina. It’s the 2012 expansion that is the controversy. We wanted a Texas team but we didn’t get the one we wanted. We wanted a team from the upper south/Midwest and we didn’t get the one we wanted.

Mizzou and Aggie fans can cry all they want. OU and Texas were preferred. If that would have killed the big12 then so be it.

Honestly I wanted major schools in the southeast to be in the SEC.

With first priority being the flagship school for each state.

I would dump Mizzou and Mississippi State

Upgrade by adding Florida State

As pitiful as Arkansad is in football, and as a state, they do add competitive value in mid/low-tier sports

Mizzou is an obvious first choice to oust. They don't fit in, they're not good at anything, they're ugly, and they put us over capacity on Tigers. The only value they bring us academic, and Georgia Tech would more than make up for that loss.

South Carolina I like on a personal level so I would vote to keep them, but at the same time they're kind of meh. It wouldn't break my heart if they were replaced with Clemson.

Mississippi State should've been dumped decades ago. Literally the only thing they have in their corner is being a charter member, which is overrated tbh. They add absolutely no value, other than being cannon fodder for the rest of the conference. They're bottom of the barrel in all aspects, across the board athletically, academically, culturally, just ugly people outside and inside. They're a Sunbelt program without that SEC patch on their uniforms

UGA wanted Clemson

Nah.

Dooley pimped hard for SC to get in and they were an easier sell being an independent.

I'll bet Tennessee wanted Virginia Tech and North Carolina, since Tennessee confuses eastern with southern

Those who are new to the conference, may not truly understand its history.

Here is how times Tennessee has played Georgia Tech, compared to the rest of the current SEC members.

Kentucky - 88
Alabama - 87
Vanderbilt - 86
Ole Miss - 56
Auburn - 52
Florida - 45
Georgia Tech - 44
Georgia - 39
Mississippi State - 34
LSU - 31
USCe - 29
Arkansas - 16
MIZZOU - 9
aTm - 2

The fact that Bobby Dodd (a UT graduate) took Georgia Tech out of the SEC because he was sick of Bear Bryant's cheating, doesn't dissuade UT from wanting Georgia Tech back. The fact that it would piss off UGA would only icing on the cake.

Read up on the conference, newbie.

SC and Arkansas have both been fine additions based on results.
