Guys, we are who we are. Our recruiting classes are going to generally be ranked somewhere around 20-25 barring some sort of NCAA bs. That means we are getting very good players and that also means we will be about 10th in our own damn conference. It's the neighborhood we live in and it's a tough one. It also means we can't lose 6 players to injury on one side of the ball and expect to win in the SEC unless you're playing Vandy, South Carolina, and sometimes Arkansas and State. The fact that we had a real chance to win at Auburn Saturday was actually nothing short of miraculous.
On another note, I was a bit distracted for most of that game Saturday with Halloween festivities, but I did get around to looking at it more closely last night. Good lord did we miss on a some chances to score, how bad was the officiating and you could easily tell Corral was babysitting that ankle with so much of what he was trying to do. Had we been at full strength, I have no doubt we win that game and possibly fairly easily. Auburn is not great by any means. We have four games left and if we can't get healthier somehow two of them (at least) are going to be very, very iffy. That is all.

Auburn's offensive line was holding the entire night.
Oh well, we had plenty of chances. Their redzone D was salty and shut down what we wanted to do.

Worst case scenario - 7-5 and relinquish the Egg
Best case scenario - 10-2 and retain the Egg
We will be favored in at least 2 of our final 4 games. We may be favored in all four, but probably not.

We have the ability to recruit in the top half of the SEC. There is no reason why Mizzou, Kentucky and even Tennessee should be our recruiting us.
On a different note I read Neil’s what he meant article and I he made a point of watch out for the WR room this off season. We have talent in that room and no one really is stepping up and I imagine we will get some great transfers.

I think we likely finish this season at 9-3 l. Which realistically my expectation coming into the season was either 7-5 or 8-4. So I think Kiffin is a bit ahead of schedule.
Depending on recruiting, I think in 2 years we could have a chance at a really special season.

According to Rivals, we finished ahead of these schools for the 2021 class.

9-3 would be a great season and would probably land us in a good bowl game. That record would probably mean we beat Liberty and Vandy and split with A&M and State.

Yep, which I think is a realistic expectation.

I agree. Let's hope we get healthy enough to finish well.
I know everyone is disappointed in the Auburn loss, but let's revisit our October.
10/02 - L at Alabama (we all know how good Alabama is)
10/09 - W v. Arkansas (who should finish with 8ish wins)
10/16 - W at Tennessee (who should finish with 7ish wins)
10/23 - W v. LSU (who has a shot at bowl eligiblity)
10/30 - L at Auburn (who should finish with 9ish wins)
We went 3-2 in five consecutive SEC games, three of which were on the road against Big Six members. We won three straight SEC games. We beat the three teams we should have and lost to two teams who are probably better than us.
The last time we won three straight SEC games, you ask? 2014. The last time before that? 2003.
Forget the conference game requirement. Do you know we have won three straight games (regardless of opponent) three times under Kiffin. We didn't tally a single three-game win streak from 2016 - 2019.
This has been a fun season and it isn't over yet. Let's finish strong and beat the Bulldawgs!

Yeah. Key at this point is taking care of Liberty, Vandy, MSU.
A&M will be tough. But even if we drop it and end 9-3 go to a solid bowl game and end year picking up win #10.
I want to beat A&M but losing to them wont tarnish the season to me. Dropping to any of the other three does.

State is going to give us all we want and more on Thanksgiving night. We damn well might be an underdog in that game.

On 247 we are ahead of State and Tennessee. We also have a higher average recruiting ranking than all 4.

It's also November 3.
South Carolina has 17 players committed. Four of them are four-stars. We have 15 players committed. Six of them are four stars. Our average recruit (per Rivals) is 3.4 and theirs is 3.27.

I do think we are going to take a tone of transfers that dont count towards our rankings.
Posted on 11/3/21 at 3:08 pm to WithaRebelYell
Recruiting rankings are about to become irrelevant. We are probably going to offload a few of our commits (including a 4*), take some extras we want, and save about 10 spots or so for the transfer portal.

I don't like the way college football is heading.

Ouch. Good lineman are hard to come by.
