The TV coverage way overdoes it with the melodramatic music and pianos, piping in birds chirping, speaking in reverent tones....

Best event in sports by a decent margin

Hard to beat a good close leaderboard on Sunday as far as TV. Can't remember the last time I haven't watched some Saturday play but all of Sunday. Perfect relaxation.

Nothing beats Sunday morning yard work followed by Masters Sunday on the back porch

You have to love the green jacket.

Indy 500 is up there too but I think the Masters takes it

The sweater ain't bad, either.
Yes, I notice these details, because I'm not a pig.
Nice cleavage!

Most overdramatic thing in sports

Yes. And it's in the great state of Georgia.

It’s over the top in the best way possible. There is 0 let down going from watching on TV to attending in person. In fact, TV still fails to do the experience justice

Do they really pipe in birds chirping? I mean they tend to do that this time of year...

Meh. I would be just fine if I never heard of the Masters or the Kentucky Derby ever again.

Not even close. The tournament only dates back to 1934. Meanwhile, you have the Army-Navy game which has played just about every year since 1900 and is steeped in tradition. The Kentucky Derby has been going strong since 1875.

I wish they had a simulcast with Wright Thompson just spouting out a never ending word salad of all things southern and faux intellectualism over golf highlights

While both events are older and very rich with tradition, both also only last about a day apiece. Masters runs a full week with practice rounds being a hot ticket, let alone the actual badges for the tournament itself.

The Wright Thompson stuff is lame and not necessarily because the writing sucks but because ESPN has this awful habit of over Southernizing shite (cough cough Marty Smith)
