There's no doubt that chef on BOL is 100% Tim's alt account.

Stuff on Twitter that the delay in Nelson’s announcement may be related to the academic issues. I don’t think anyone knows at this point.

Here's what the tide fans, i mean hogville mod said...

quote:

This is taking too long ... okay folks, I know everyone got excited that the decision had been delayed, BUT (I was just greenlighted to share some info, not for Twitter, but can be shared here) ...

* Arkansas has pivoted and is working on 3-4 prospect potentials to fill the 13th and final scholarship for the '23-24 roster (I alluded to unnamed other options in Sunday's PTN segment). Hog coaches were told they would hear from GN's camp by Sunday (remember, his visit wrapped on Friday late afternoon / early evening), but they have not heard a peep from him since. A souce not connected with the staff said there would be a delay but that GN ahd already "committed to a school." Seems as though GN has a hold-up that is not tied to an ongoing Arkansas consideration, so something would have to drastically shift from where things stand now for this to become a GN to Arkansas narrative.

* Arkansas got right on the NIL (didn't start that way), and as I expected would be the case I was told the Hogs' presentation was the better of the two schools -- duly noted that some posters here had heard the same (not sure if you were well-sourced or just a guess, but kudos if you had this correct).

* I've kept my promise to NOT predict where GN will commit, and again I plan to share more details when I can after he announces. Could Bama have upped its offer or was challenged to do so and that is being worked through? Is GN dragging this out for effect? Is another school making a late pitch? Whatever the reason for the delay, it does not appear to be because he's torn on a decision that includes Arkansas. And IF he is still considering Arkansas, it would come as a shock to Hogs' staff as of now.

* I've been given two specific examples of what appears to be negative recruiting on Bama's part (remember, he visited the Tide a day prior to his Arkansas visit), while Arkansas determined pre-visit that it would not bring Bama up = low road vs. high road. I can't give specifics on this now, and though I hope to I'm not sure I will be able to later, but how rich is that?

Same thing I heard. That he silently committed to us yesterday afternoon. Not sure what the hold up on the announcement is. I know he canceled the Baylor visit because he didnt qualify academically to get in there, so I hope the issue isnt academic.

If negative recruiting = presenting the competitors roster and system and noting how we are a better fit than them then I sure as hell hope that's what we did.

It sounded hilariously like sour grapes. I'm not surprised Muss wouldn't want to bring up bama. Because he's the perfect big in our system, with the opportunity to showcase what scouts want to see him do.

I assume he’s alluding to the whole Brandon Miller thing.

By all means create a “negative recruiting pitch” stating that Oats stood by an innocent player that got crucified in the court of public opinion. Maybe set up a teleconference with Miller’s parents so they can tell you how much they resent CNO. Make sure you supplement it with all the reports from the NBA combine that state that Miller has “zero character issues” and mock drafts showing he’s gonna go Top-3

You might as well shut-down the program once opposing coaches get that pitch together

I think our NIL offer was guaranteed too and while Arkansas throws out big numbers it isnt all guaranteed. Pointing that out isnt negative recruiting imo but he could be referring to that.

The second GN commits to Bama:

“Whatever. He was a weird fit for our offense and we have plenty of depth”

Exactly. I mean what's he going to do? Show him a bunch of film of how we used dudes like Bruner before his knees died, Reese, Gurley, and Clowney as proof of how bad of a fit his game would be for us? Or perhaps show him the depth chart that has 1 player over 6'8"? Even if you want to, you can't negatively recruit when there isn't anything to use for ammo. He's too good of a fit for what we do and our depth chart is too inviting for bigs for anyone to really negatively recruit against us for him.

Hold up has to be the academic stuff. Just hope it’s nothing serious. Tipton almost always uses “commits” not “expected to commit”

Somebody (the family or our staff) clearly got the all clear to get it out there, and while they are obviously finishing everything up I seriously doubt they do that if they aren't sure if he's gonna be good to go academically.

Awesome pick up. Absolutely incredible portal season by Oats, especially considering all the coaching turnover. Go find 1 more big who can give us a few tough guy minutes and we're ready to roll.
