Should show that quote to Nelson if NIL is such an annoyance for Arkansas

Their other fortune 500s in NWA are a trucking company and a meat processor. Plus they're the hogs. That body will never be found.

From Mac on BOL:

quote:

As Tim said visit has gone very well. Wrapping things up this morning and he is headed to Arkansas. We are optimistic and like our chances.

I just hope Oats tells him to give us the opportunity to match whatever offers Muss throws out

True, but I'll guarantee you our coaches want NIL money more than a new gym. Players want NIL money more than a gym too, and NIL has become the top item in recruiting. Though we offer really good NIL and have bolstered that program through the Learfield Center and Yea Alabama, schools like Arkansas have unlimited funds from Walmart, Tyson Chicken, and Hunt Trucking to offer up front money to sign, and they are not alone. They do not provide NIL opportunity as designed; they just flat out pay up front - though rumor has it what they promise up front may not get delivered in full. Bottom line is we need NIL money right now.

Same. My big concern with him going on the visit there is that they're going to just keep adding money to the bag until he says yes.

Exactly why I wanted the last visit. I think we have just about every advantage over Arkansas other than money. Having said that, if I were in his situation and was offered half of a million more (not saying that's the gap) to play in a good system for a great coach, I'd probably take the life-changing money which I'm not guaranteed to get at the next level even if the fit isn't as perfect as it could be.

“It’s great. They’re a solid operation,” Mr. Nelson said. “Just top-notch. Nothing weak here… this is a top-notch bunch of guys.”

“[The highlight] was just seeing the professionalism,” Mr. Nelson added. “It’s a whole different level from where I come from. It’s really cool to see a new level of professionalism.”

He also had the following to say when asked how he would rate the Alabama visit on a scale of 1-10.

“It’s up there in the 10 range as far as good people,” Mr. Nelson replied.

Couple of quotes by Grant's dad from the BOL article. Also mentioned that the Arkansas visit was "just a day [long]".

Not sure how I feeling about that "as far as good people" caveat. Seems like the start of a friend zone rejection But outside of maybe that (which I'm likely looking too much in to), it was overwhelmingly positive.

I think he had a great visit and at the end of the day...I believe in Nate Oats. If we get him...I'll be ecstatic for sure.

I think our X-Factor is Ryan Pannone!!

Let's battle...Bama vs Arky for Grant Nelson

If he chooses them strictly off money then he's going to be in a world of trouble in terms of fit because he's not going to be able to showcase what all he can do with Arkansas style of play...could be wrong but I don't see how he improves his draft stock in that scheme.

Good video.

Yeah, a few plays beginning at 4:25 illustrate him chasing on those drives (he recovers in these instances).

You can certainly see the difference as a rim protector when he plays more of a true 5.

With our roster needs, I wonder how much we'd actually use him as a stretch-4?

Grant and Pringle can coexist for sure with his passing.

I mean you really wouldn't even need to play them together a ton. With the way college refs are it's tough for bigs to play more than 20-25 per game. They could easily be rotated in and out at the 5 and only play together when matchups dictate it.

Should've used the xxx-factor and gotten a sorority to recruit him.

Being professional is all well and good til Arkansas gives him an old-fashioned and leaves 500k on the dresser.

JK that sounds like they had a good visit, if it really comes down to role and system you have to like our chances.

Here's a few more quotes I thought were pretty positive

quote:

“[Their pitch is that] Grant would fit into their plan pretty well and their team,” Mr. Nelson said. “That’s what we’re looking for: The fit.”

quote:

Oats, in particular, made a strong impression on them during their multi-day stay in Tuscaloosa.

“The same stuff all the top-notch guys say: What they do and how they do it,” Mr. Nelson said of Oats’ message. “Real matter of fact, good guy. I just really respect him.”

quote:

Nelson’s mother, Meg, previously told BamaOnLine that her son “should” be making a decision by the end of this week. There are currently no other visits set up besides the Arkansas one.

Mr. Nelson is not yet sure how Grant will announce the decision, but outlined what his son is looking for.

“[He’s looking for] fit for the team, workouts/strength and conditioning, and preparedness for the NBA,” Mr. Nelson said. “A good bunch of guys to work with so that happens.”

Baye Fall expected to enroll at Arkansas now, that should help us with Nelson right?
