Early Signing Period: Which committed players will sign and who won't?

The early signing period is upon us. The first day will be on November 9th and the final day will be November 16th. This week gives players the opportunity to sign their National Letter of Intent with the college they plan to attend.

For committed players that do not sign this week, it clearly shows a hesitation. That could be the head coach being on the hot seat, worry of being recruited over in the transfer portal, or any other number of reasons.

*If you do not see a players name on this list, then they did not confirm nor deny with me that they’d be signing during the early period, despite attempts via phone.

All ranking are according to the On3 Consensus — the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies (ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, On3).

National Signing Day: Intel on the top 10 uncommitted basketball prospects

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the early signing period for the 2023 recruiting class. As the senior class etches their names into their letters of intent, 22 of the Top150 prospects remain on the board (14 of which rank inside the Top 100).

Several of those players will be putting an end to their recruiting processes before the end of the early signing period. But, there are a few prospects who are expected to remain available heading into the winter. This prompted 247Sports to put together a list of the top ten uncommitted prospects.

Contenders: Alabama and Oklahoma

Kaden Cooper's announcement is imminent and could come as early as this weekend. He cut his list to five schools, but this race is really been between Oklahoma and Alabama.

Cooper has his decision made behind the scenes, but only he and his immediate circle know the destination at this moment.

It's a 50/50 toss-up on whether it's his home-state Sooners or the Crimson Tide as of this moment. As a result, information is still being gathered to determine where he will end up.

National Signing Day primer: Alabama hoops set to bolster roster

The first signing period for college basketball has arrived starting today, running through Wednesday, Nov. 16. The Crimson Tide’s four-man class is expected to make it official with Alabama during this window.

“I think you’re gonna see with this class what we’re looking to do with getting long, athletic, multidimensional guys,” Nate Oats said after the Tide’s season-opening victory over Longwood on Monday night. “We put a huge point of emphasis with shooting with the transfer portal. Our goal is to sign 4-5 guys in the early period. I think we’re gonna get that. I think you’re gonna see we’ve got shooting in there, like a huge emphasis on shooting and versatile guys that can play multiple positions that are also tough and got some length to them.

“I’m happy with where I think it’s gonna go. I can’t really talk too much about it. I mean, you guys are all on social media. You’ve probably got good guesses as to who’s gonna sign here with us. Once they sign, I’ll put out some more specific statements on all of them. But I think you can tell what we’re trying to get with this roster.”

The Tide’s class currently ranks No. 13, per the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. It’s made up of:

Mouhamed Dioubate, 4-star PF, Putnam (Conn.) Putnam Science Academy — signing at TBD

Sam Walters, 4-star PF, The Villages (Fla.) Villages Charter School — signing at 2 p.m. CT

Davin Cosby, 4-star SG, Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God Christian Academy — signing at 8:30 a.m. CT

R.J. Johnson, 3-star CG, Huntsville (Ala.) Grissom — signing at 9:15 a.m. CT

Of course, Oats mentioned possibly five signees, meaning one target in the mix UA would like to add to this current quartet is four-star small forward Kaden Cooper out of The Skill Factory in Atlanta (originally from Ada, Okla.). A decision could be made this week between Alabama and Oklahoma, so we’ll stay tuned on that.

Kristy Curry is bringing in an impact 2023 class. Essence Cody is a physical and skilled forward who excels at finishing around the rim and the trail 3-point shot in the slot. She has gotten herself into great condition over the last year. No. 50 Reychel Douglas is one of the more complete guards in the class. She can lead the offense or be the aggressor from the wing. She is good in the pick and roll and has a nice pull-up, as well as long-range jumper. No. 87 Naomi Jones is an active big who has improved her touch around the rim. She runs the floor and impacts the game in and around the paint.'
