It doesn’t appear to me that one can make a logical conclusion on who to point your anger at. They had two violations and were shut down after the third. What were they doing? They clearly had two opportunities to stop. What policy did they break specifically? Travel and events is rather vague.

Sounds like they did something stupid. Must have been a group effort for the entire team to get shut down and not just 1 or 2 misguided individuals. Most likely something petty in today's environment but regardless, rules were not followed. Would like to know what happened to warrant this action by the school. Hopefully these students learned a lesson from this.

Can we get a running tally of all the college athletes that have died over the past year because of Covid?
I think were still at ZERO

Went to Live Oak in Auburn for the first time last night. Not a lot of masks or clothing on the young women there. Expect bodies stacked like firewood in the streets soon.

They should compete as individuals or form a new club. NRUBUA.

It’s a club sport. Pretty sure they could just tell the university to FO. The Auburn team has put out some excellent professional fisherman compared to other schools. We aren’t quite the Alabama of collegiate fishing, but we are close.

I blame Gus and his Butt-Boy Lanier.

From Twitter. Don't know how true but sounds likely.

The university imposed a ban on entering fishing tournaments. The fishing team decided to enter tournaments anyway. Had they not worn school apparel and covered up the auburn decals on their boats, they may have gotten away with it.

This is beyond stupid. Like I said, we’ve fished against them several times this year. Not sure exactly how you catch COVID outside in a boat. If the tournament organizers are having the events and putting the rules in place, then who is the administration to overrule them? That’d be like pulling the football team out of the SEC title game because they didn’t think they were protecting the team. Karen and Ken fricking up fishing.

This is more of the University posturing with a activity that they just dont care about more than them making a good decision. They really dont care about these small clubs/activities like they do the big 2. Its all about money.
If you actually knew how little the university supports these guys on the Fishing Team, it would spin your head.

Oh, I do. Most of those kids fish the Alabama Federation Nation with us. I see them often. It’s especially sad given how good the team has been over the years.

I was a Freshman when they started the club glad to see how well they did.

Still don't know what caused the ban. Surely someone knows some of these guys....

On March 24, Keegan Ashbee, assistant director of Campus Recreation competitive sports, sent a letter to the team informing them that, effective immediately, the Bass Fishing Club was suspended from all activities until the end of 2021 due to violations of the University’s COVID-19 policy on travel and events applying to club sports teams.
This MFer right here. Hard to tell whether that’s a Karen or Ken.

Auburn fisheries is world renowned, yet university doesn't want to showcase a fishing team associated with it. Seems shitty

Welp, looks like Auburn bend the knee. They either made a snap decision or the admins are a bunch of pussies. Either way, there shall be fishing
