you may want to tell that to the selection committee then, bud. Because RPI is the computer model they still use in baseball.
There’s nothing wrong with using RPI at the end of the regular season.

And is it "trash" because you read that somewhere or can you explain why, in your own words, why their model is trash?
Because it takes months for RPI to be accurate. Do you think Virginia Tech is the #1 team in the country? RPI does right now.
As I’ve said multiple times, RPI is only a good indicator later in the season.

And to sit here and argue with me about SOS with an actual model in your face
SoG maybe you should explain

7-0 Bama after 3 innings

LOL - I mean at this point it's hard for any ranking to be accurate because there isn't enough cross-pollination between teams.
I do like ELO in baseball and basketball, though.

Which was my point from the start. No rankings are necessarily super accurate right now, but ELO gives a general idea of how good teams outside the Top 25 are, and certainly much better than RPI at this point in the season.

Freshman Charlie Goldstein strikes out the side.

Charlie Goldstein records an immaculate inning for the Dawgs at Kennesaw State: 9 pitches, 9 strikes, 3 Ks

Nicholls ties it up with LSU 3-3 in the 8th

ELO gives a general idea of how good teams are based on their own arbitrary rankings to start the season. I don't see why you think ELO is any better than somewhere like D1 a this point in the season, which is ranking done by guys who provide, by far, the most comprehensive coverage of the sport anywhere. If ELO gives teams starting values based on what amounts to a poll, then its value is little to nothing at this point in the season just like every other model out there, which is what I've literally said all along ITT. Then you then decided to argue with me about SOS in re Ole Miss/State and what week 2 poll is better/worse even after you said yourself "I may be wrong."
