Looks like another Jabril Cox. Great in coverage, good in pass rush, not good in run defense. Nice get.

Seems to be solid. I am reluctant to assume he's great in any area until they hit the field. Seems promising but

Based on PFF he was the best LB in the country in pass coverage and the worst LB in the country in tackling

Looks like a hybrid backer type against spread teams or on passing downs I'd assume. Definitely looks worth bringing on board with spots available.

Very cool. Clearly I am not too familiar with him

Especially in today's offenses seems like a great addition

We have thumpers on the team. Pass coverage was our main issue

Yea - that specific role of coverage LB is always needed on any roster in 2021.

Oh God.

Well the good news is he doesn't have any work to do go get up to speed with the rest of the LB room.

The pass coverage grades are encouraging though. Against modern spread offenses, linebackers are IMO the most important defenders on the field.

He lost his job as a starter to someone who was a true freshman last year

Clemson has a really crowded LB room. They played 7 different linebackers at least 100 snaps last year. 5 of them saw at least 286 snaps. So they rotate a good bit. He may just have wanted a more feature role - he played 365 snaps last season, more a passing down linebacker.

Per PFF he was the highest graded linebacker on their defense overall though last season of the 5 who played at least 286 snaps. One of the highest graded linebackers in he country in pass coverage, so he definitely fits well as a Jabril Cox replacement for us. That's what Cox excelled at.

This means the best LB from the ACC won't be lining up against the Dawgs offense Sept 4. Congrats
