Was that the bouncer from Jerry Springer?

He bounces around from job to job. That might be what you’re thinking about.

That's an interesting hire. Hasn't worked anywhere for years

When Brian VanGorder was still available?

Damn, I see what you are talking about. Seems like his peak is 2-3 years at a job.

anyone actually know if he’s good... in anyway? Hard to evaluate a guy that jumps ship like crazy and hasn’t been in college in fifteen years.
Only thing to go on really is the play of the secondary for the Domers in 2004 and the Huskies in 2005.

Getting a former NFL head coach seems like a nice hire for a DC. Only question would be if he knows how to gameplan against college style offenses being in the league for so long.

That’s what we thought for Dooley.

Granted, Wilkes has far more NFL experience than Dooley had.
As for adaptation. I suppose it’s good the NFL has incorporated many college O parts the last several years as far as transitioning goes.

I like it. Seems to be a solid hire.

The guy has good scheme specifically in the secondary. He also has leadership traits given his endorsement from Ron Rivera.
You're right though regarding game planning and terminology. He will need to dumb things down to be taught to student athletes. Needs to be a teacher.

Apparently that is why he wanted to get back into college. I think he has younger kids. Heard he turned down a job with the Redskins last year.

Were Mizzou players even alive last time he coached college football?

Hope this isn’t a Woody’s Wagon like hire.

What is his secondary scheme? The only Mizzou schemes I remember are Tampa 2 and all the shitty ones following.

Lol, what?
He was a DC in the NFL in 2019. He took exactly 1 season off. He’s only 51, and with all the NFL experience I think he will play well on the recruiting trail. He’s typically ran a 4-3 with heavy pressures and a lot of zone behind that, but I don’t think he’ll run that in college ball. More likely a 4-2-5
Our best player on defense plays “Star” or whatever you want to call it. The safety that plays close to the LOS
