KJ Costello: 623 yards, 5 TDs in SEC debut against defending champion LSU. Lost his starting job a few weeks later

Kenny “Trill” Hill: 500 yards, 3 TDs against SC. Moved into Heisman Top 3. Lost his job and transferred halfway through the season.

Anyone else?

Kenny Trill Hill for A&M comes to mind even though he had a stretch of several good games

Ryan Perrilloux...but because of his dumbassery, not his playing ability.

Kirby Smart went 8-5 in his debut year and has gone 44-9 since. Terrible pick.

UGA...

Greyson Lambert...

During the third game of the season (against the University of South Carolina), he completed 24 of 25 passes for a 96% completion percentage, which set an NCAA record. He also broke Georgia's record for consecutive completions with 20.

Then proceeded to suck out loud.

Yep. he came in on mop-up duty in 2013, but it was the opener in 2014 vs. Arkansas that fooled all of us Auburn fans into thinking he was great.

In all fairness to KJ, his injury in the Bama game pretty much kilt his season. It was the AU game, a month and a half later before he was even available to play again.

Had a dynamite game in 2013 against Western Kentucky, too. 80% completion and 4 TDs.

Not always. He had a pretty good game vs. Miss State in 2019. But he's been more awful than not. Same with Ole Miss that year (335 and 340 passing yards).

In his second start ever, Jerrod Heard broke the school record for most yards in a game against Cal in 2015 with 527 (364 passing & 163 rushing).

He was moved to wide receiver the following offseason and maybe caught 15 passes in his final 3 seasons
