Here’s the stats for the new Auburn coach. Take from these numbers what you will.

Overall head coaching win/loss record: 76-24

2013: (Arkansas State) 7-5 (5-2) Sunbelt Champ.
2014: (Boise) 12-2 (7-1) Mountain West Champ
2015: (Boise) 9-4 (5-3)
2016 (Boise) 10-3 (6-2) Mountian West Div. Champ
2017: ((Boise) 11-3 (7–1) Mountian West Champ
2018: (Boise) 10-3 (7-1)
2019: (Boise) 12-2 (8-0) Mountain West Champ
2020: (Boise) 5-2 (5-0)

Total Conference Championships: 4 (out of 8 years as a head coach)

Bowl record: 3-2

From the small sample size vids I’ve seen, he reminds me of a tough talker like Chiz once was.

Like his system, teams are disciplined. How we fill out the staff is what will make or break him

that conference is a joke. paying over 20 million dollars for a coach who really hasn't proven shite is insane. They lost to San Jose State this year

Harsin is a better hire than I think most were anticipating Auburn making at this juncture, but I’m not sure his overall coaching record is a very good litmus test. BSU has more resources than any other Mountain West school, and likely more than several of them combined. It’s in a beautiful city, has a unique stadium, and better facilities than a lot of P5 schools. It would be a significant red flag if his record at BSU were any worse than that.

ETA: For reference, from 2000-2013, BSU had 4 seasons with 3 or more losses. From 2014-2019, BSU matched that number.

My big concern with Harsin would be recruiting. Boise State strikes me as a program that can get by on exceptional coaching. As we all know, recruiting is a necessity to compete at the level that Auburn wants to ( or I'd imagine so considering they fired a good but not great coach in Gus).

He’s coached white baws. Let’s see what he does with Auburn recruits. Not saying he won’t be successful, just waiting to see.

I think this was a very good hire. Is it ok to say Gus was just a wierd guy yet? This guy seems less wierd.

Very impressive resume. Wonder if he makes the transition to the Power 5 better than Chris Petersen.

Only numbers I’m looking at:

Arkansas State

2012 - Gus Malzahn - 10-3

2013 - Bryan Harsin - 7-5

So, he already has experience taking over a Malzahn team and we already know what he can do. Lol

The mental gymnastics some posters are doing I. This thread to shite on Hardin’s record is entertaining af. “He should be pounding the mountain west!” He is....losses to P5 schools make up a number of his losses. “He should out recruit everyone, best facilities, talent blah blah!” Yeah, Boise is much more of a draw that Colorado, California and Hawaii.

This kinda shite used to rustle me a little, this shite now is pathetic, entertaining but still pathetic.

Averages 3 losses per season.

He beats up the easy conference guys (great conference win totals) but struggled in OOC games.

Was meh in bowl games at 3-2.

What does that tell us?

You don't even know how to spell his name, or couldn't be bothered to fix it. Tells me all I need to know about how good he is.

I’m not getting the hate, that’s respectable.

But then as I type that I realize Malzahn was fired for putting up “respectable” numbers

Has a mixed bag here. Fiesta Bowl win in his first season over a 10-2 Arizona squad. Was blown out last year by a 7-5 Washington team in the Las Vegas bowl.

Those are not good numbers. I'm honestly not sure why you posted this.

Boise St had a .913 win pct the 7 years prior to Harsin. The win pct dropped to .784 during his 7 year tenure. A drop of .129.
AU win pct the last 7 years .629. If AU win pct drops like Boise it would be .500 the next 7 years.

Boise States football revenues DOUBLE that of the SECOND highest Mountain West Program. He has been driving a car in a horse raise.

He is now in a conference with at least 6 other teams with equal horse power and 6 more teams in the same ballpark. The only team he has insane advantage over (Vandy) he plays once every 6 years.

We are about to see what kind of coach he is.
