They are glorified exhibition matches.

Just mentioned this in the other thread but at this point every program could use the pay check right now - regardless of how good or bad their season has been.

Nice to catch a few games over the holidays if you ask me. Most of the bowl games kinda suck to really suck but there are usually 5-7 that are pretty damn good matchups.

Bowl games are for prayinng you don't lose and have to listen to your rivals laugh at you the whole off-season.

As long as there is a betting line I give a shite

Sometimes they are fun and it is great to almost always have a game to turn on during the holidays. I don't understand why people shite on bowl games. It is more football and sometimes it is very entertaining.

Yes, I love bowl games. The more the better, IMO. It gives me something to watch.

I think they will be especially fun this year. No Out of conference games during the regular season will give us a good idea of how strong each conference was.
In general, it's fun to root on your conference for bragging rights.
I do miss when they actually used to mean more, though. CFP kinda made the bowl games not mean much.

I mean technically they are meaningless but 99% of the regular season is meaningless too if you only count games that had a direct impact on the national championship

More college football>less college football.

I mean 99% of bowl games have been meaningless in “normal” years since signing day was moved back several years ago. Nothing has changed, but the traditions of watching the games around Christmas and New Years have a special place to me and I’ll enjoy this year like any other.

Tell that to Apollo Creed.

The only thing that matters is what the sponsors believe regarding bowl games. TV money matters even if fans don't show. The reward for having a good season has run it's course for the most part.

More football is never a bad thing

I'd rather watch an SEC game than almost any matchup in a bowl. We knew the playoff was going to take the real starch out of any matchup going forward and it has. If they expand the playoff it will just about cripple the new year games altogether. I'm pulling for expansion.

8 teams is the right number for the playoff.
