Our New Coach should have come to Columbia and not stayed in OK. He's just signed his own death warrant.
You can't win in the SEC like this.
Yes, this is a repost from the main page. I expect a different type of conversation here.

How is this his fault? I mean he could 100% fail, but it wont be becuase of 1 recruiting class.

He's still working for Oklahoma, not USC.
That's a problem that is manifesting itself today.

no, him being hired right before early signing period is not his fault. the recruiting class that was already not good from Muschamp is not his fault. He could only contact recruits virtually so doesn't matter if he zoom calls them from columbia or oklahoma. This one class will not make or break him

This is the lowest class of any SEC team in the past 20 years by close to 50 spots. Stop and think about that for just 1 second.

Muschamp did an awful job

I'm not sure how much he could have done to salvage this class in the little time it's been since he was hired. As others have pointed out, this class was bad before muschamp was even fired.
This program is an absolute disaster and that rest squarely on Muschamp and Ray Tanner. Even if Beamer could have saved a few commits it would have likely not made much difference considering the state of the program right now.

I get it its a terrible signing class. Hopefully we get some good transfers in. This years signing class isnt on Beamer though. Its on the staff he is replacing.

Can we find the people who wanted to keep Muschamp bc they didn't want to lose this recruiting class, and deport them to Turkestan?

I don’t follow recruiting
But is this class like this because they all decommitted ?
Or was it already this bad?

We whatever it was, I'm sure it would have been better done in Columbia, SC as opposed to Norman, Ok....
As someone in the other thread said, We're paying him MILLIONS of dollars to work for someone else right now...
The fact that you folks aren't that upset about it is mind blowing to me.
Cut/Paste from the other thread.
I think I need to clarify that most of my frustration isn't with Beamer himself, but with our AD. At the time, he stated the main reason for firing Muschamp midseason was to get someone in place for early signing day. Well, the whole point of that is lost, IF YOU DON'T MAKE THE GUY SHOW UP BY ESD!!!
If Shane Beamer was the guy you're going after, you can wait until the end of the season to fire Muschamp (nobody's snapping him up). That would have saved the school about 2-3 Million dollars of Muschamp's buyout. Of course it doesn't look like our AD cares that much about $$$ anyway (seeing how he didn't sign Muschamp's last contract costing the school an extra $2 Mil on Muschamp's buyout... )

Both. We lost a recruit to GA Southern today.

He wasn't exactly a game changer tho, so yeah it just sucked from the start.

Hey! I said that!
I don’t know, if I was a SC fan right now I would be incredibly pissed. It’s not like Oklahoma is even in the running for anything significant and it’s not like he was the HC there or even a coordinator. Stay on as the TE coach so that they can shore up a 3rd place finish in the Big 12? WTF? That just makes no sense to me whatsoever.
Maybe it wouldn’t have made much difference but I would want the guy I just hired on MY campus doing MY bidding. Not splitting attention on something that doesn’t even matter. I get why you are pissed Lonnie

If we are in a battle with Georgia Southern
Probably best to not have been recruiting him

Thank you. And as the Florida fan said in that thread, this class will be our leaders 3 years from now. For most coaches year 3 is their make or break year.
And for the record, I'm more frustrated than pissed. I (intentionally) overplayed my hand/position in the thread on the main page. (Don't always believe 100% of what you read from me.) Anyway the fact remains that while I admire his loyalty to his former employer, he should be working for us now.
I'm just tired of sucking at football, and with transfers and a class like this, we're going to suck at football for a long, long time.

Right now, without any more off season transfers, SC only has 68 returning scholarship players for next year. With the 9 that signed today that's only 77 scholarship players.

Hopefully Beamer can exceed expectations (against everyone but my Tigers of course). If you guys look better than expected next year then perhaps he can pull off a big class next cycle and shorten the down period a bit.
It’s a tough spot, but don’t you guys have a 5* QB coming in? That can mask a lot of deficiencies

Literally every outlet covering our team has been out in front of this for weeks stating that beamer is deliberately leaving himself numbers to look @juco and transfer guys going into February. My guy Lonnie is living on the edge
