JJ (2015) - I used this year due to his pass attempts. Most of his career
60% completion 10 TDs 7 INTs
Bo Nix (2020)
61.5% 10 TDs 7 INTs
Bo is at 283 attempts this year vs 157 for JJ.
We give JJ shite and consider him the worst QB of the Gus era, but Bo is hot on his trail.

This is a bad post for many obvious reasons. I’ll give you a few minutes to figure out before I contextualize the stats for you but I’m currently waiting in line at the bank.

Go ahead, bro. Completion % is similar, even though Bo has more attempts. Someone on another board stated he is at 36% when you take away screens. I did not include that because I cannot confirm. TDs to INTs are worse when you compare his attempts. Point is we think of JJ as a complete failure, but Bo is not substantially better.

In his 7 career starts vs P5 competition, JJ averaged 125 yards passing per game. His high was 243 in the 2014 opener vs Arky which proved to be an aberration. His next highest total was 169 yards in the 2015 Iron Bowl, 77 of which came from a lucky tipped ball to Jason Smith.
JJ, in 7 games vs P5:
57% completion percentage
125 YPG passing
9 YPG rushing
1.3 Total TD per game
26.2 pass attempts per interception
1 Backwards Pass
Bo, this season:
61% completion percentage
222 YPG passing
37 YPG rushing
1.8 Total TD per game
40.4 pass attempts per interception
1 Backwards Pass
Stidham, 2018 vs P5:
61% completion percentage
226 YPG passing
2.2 YPG rushing
1.4 Total TD per game
61 pass attempts per interception
0 Backwards Passes
Stidham is a much better barometer for Nix than any recent Auburn QB I'm thinking. 2017 Stidham is a high end Nix season, probably.

OP sums up everything there is to hate about message boards... taking a kernel of truth, wrap it in a bunch of bullshite, then pose a stupid question.... then watch people argue over it.

Bbbuuut JJ was going to win the Heisman and I've never thought that about . . .

bullshite. Bo's numbers are inflated due to the massive amount of screen passes we throw.
JS and JJ were in an offense that attacked down field. Bo struggles with anything past 10 yards.

I don’t think you’re talking about the same Nix that plays for Auburn. He isn’t there yet but he’s pretty close to turning me into a fanboy. I think he turns it on even more next year.
JJ was always trash. He played a good game against Arkansas but afterwards his direct passes to linebackers over and over again killed me inside. Nix doesn’t turn the ball over a whole lot. He also beat Bama as a TF. JJ didn’t win anything of note.

JJ Yards per Attempt vs P5:
6.69
Nix Yards per Attempt this season:
7.06
This is the weirdest revisionist history I've ever seen.
JJ is one of the worst QB's in Auburn history. Bo clearly belongs at this level, he's just been inconsistent through his first two seasons.

JJ was terrible. So is Bo. The talent surrounding Bo is more than JJ had, and he still struggles with downhill passing. Why some of you still defend this clown is mind boggling.

I'd just like you to admit Bo is clearly far superior to JJ and that Stidham is a much better comparison.

Alright man. If you can just ignore evidence to the contrary, this conversation is useless.

Stidham is a much Better thrower than Bo. Bo is a much better runner however.
JJ was bad. He may have comparable stats to Bo but JJ had a way better team around him, and played before the offense was totally figured out.
I think Stidham and Bo are fairly equal when you account for arm (Stid is better) and legs (Bo is better). Neither is a good fit for this offense. They are both much better than JJ.

What evidence do you have that indicates he is better?
Keep in mind I am just showing Bo is closer to JJ than most here will admit. Not that JJ is a better QB.

I’d put Marshall in tier 1 for 2013 alone. That guy is one of the most athletic QBs in CFB history and doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Well there is the eye test and there is the stats. Other than that not much!
