I mean let's be honest, no they couldn't win.

what? A rightly called targeting and incomplete pass got way too much attention.

It was a closely matched game. Refs didn't wrongly affect the outcome

Dabo is right about the advantages for OSU. Playing quite a few less games, injuries are going to be less of an issue for the kids from Ohio. Not to mention less wear and tear ...

tOSU is all rested up for the playoffs.

Dabo is a dipshit but he's right here. OSU is benefitting from preseason hype and is paying no penalty for the big 10s shitty planning. There are several teams in the SEC that'd be undefeated with OSUs 5 game schedule.

Dabo is 100% on point. Not only will they have only played 5 games, but their schedule is arguably the worst in the entire country for a P5 team. Put in Cincy over them, hell if UF or A&M weren’t up there I’d put in Iowa St over them if they beat OU again.

No question about it. I can think of at least four teams in the SEC that would be undefeated playing those five teams.

The Big10 office putting the Buckeyes in that conference championship game and the committee slotting them in the playoff is basically a lifetime achievement award. Not for a full record of achievement in this season.

I've seen Ohio State unexpectedly lose to (I think) Purdue, Michigan State and Iowa in the last few years. You can't just assume victories in those games. You gotta show up and prove it.

Dabo The Fake Bible Thumping hillbilly is a GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFF! He knows Ohio St beat his arse last yr and the refs gave it to Clemson . He knows Ohio St will do it again this yr if they play and the refs will not get him over this time . Swinney= biggest fraud in college football ..he 's a snake . O H I OooooH!

OSU had the lead with 3 minutes left in the game with Clemson pinned at their own 5 yard line, but couldn't get it done -just like the other three games they've played against Clemson. But, of course, it was all the refs fault. But it's OK, you are merely parroting the constant whining from that cheap lounge-lizard band, Cry'n Ryan and the Bucknuts

This what I don't like about his statements

quote:

we feel like we're definitely one of the best four teams in the country and there's nothing that's going to happen in that game next week for Clemson or Notre Dame that's going to change that in my opinion

So he feels like it doesn't matter if his team potentially loses 2 games. He thinks they're still one of the four best teams regardless. So on one hand he can say it'snot fair that OSU may only play 6 games but on the other Clemson's record shouldn't matter because they're still one of the top 4 teams. I think most people would agree that OSU is more than likely one of the four best teams. The big argument is have they earned the right to be in the CFP. If Clemson loses to Notre Dame again, they haven't earned it either regardless if the "eye test" for some may lean towards them still being a top 4 team.
quote:

I mean, heck — in 2017, we lost to a three-win or four-win Syracuse team and still went to the Playoffs

This doesn't help his argument either IMO. So Clemson still qualified for the CFP despite losing to 4 win Syracuse. Does he really expect OSU to drop multiple games like that with the schedule they would have played had their season not been cut short?

I agree with Dabo's conclusion that OSU won't have earned their spot in the CFP, but I can't stand his self-righteousness in getting that point across. Clemson has been given the benefit of the doubt in the past playing in a joke of a conference, so I really don't want to hear him being the one to complain about someone else getting favorable treatment. They were the #1 ranked team in the final 2017 CFP rankings with that loss to Syracuse and got embarrassed by Alabama in the semi-finals of the CFP. I'd be much more inclined to listen to someone like Fisher or Mullen make this argument (or even one of the undefeated G5 coaches), and they aren't saying anything of the sort. They've been saying we can only control what we can control and are just trying to go out there and win and hopefully things work in their favor ultimately.

Dabo, of all people, doesn't need to be the one talking about this. Clemson isn't in danger of being left out if they beat Notre Dame and they'd be out regardless if they lose to Notre Dame again. He controls his own destiny, so he doesn't need to worry himself with what other schools are doing. Honestly, it just makes himself sound worried his team may lose to OSU, which doesn't really lend a lot of credibility to the notion that they're not a top 4 team.

Screw OSU! The Big 10 didn’t let OSU play until 10/24..since then they are 5-0 against only I ranked team. They played shitty Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers(!) and Mich St teams, meanwhile to put it in perspective, both Florida and A&M are 6-0 against the SEC since then. Early season injuries play a huge role in the outcomes of later season games.

I agree to an extent. But very few teams have ever benefit more from their conference affiliation than Clemson has the past 5-6 years. OSU getting in is bullshite, but would we have been that much more satisfied if they had played Michigan, Maryland, and Illinois and blown the doors off of them?

I agree with him.
Just one extra game might be the difference in multiple starters getting injured and not being available for the playoffs much less 4 games.
