Interesting. Speaking of Barfield... Every coach since has had an incredible season shorty after being hired. Dye started in 81 had an incredible 83. Bowden started in 93 and had an incredible 93. Tubs started in 99 had an incredible 2004, Chizik started in 09 and had an incredible 2010, and Gus started in and had an incredible 2013.

Every coaching change we have had since Barfield sparks apathetic fan interest and breathes new life into the program

People arent buying you chicken little Gus apologists anymore. You now are in the minority.

Imagine if Auburn had hired Pat Dye in 78.. That 1979 team with that NFL backfield...

Georgia would not have 1980 to even fall back on.

year. Have the UAB Coach get his inaugural year in the new stadium ....then yank him from downtown. Gus gets far less and Auburn doesn't suffer.
Bill Clark would be a very Auburn thing to do.

Why in the hell would they not swing for the fences and blow this thing out? Go after someone that has big time, P5 experience that’s won some conference titles and knows how to run an elite level program.

I don't think they'll have to. I am about 95% sure that the Gus Malzahn experiment ends tomorrow. Apparently, what needed to happen has happened. I just hope they don't get cold feet

I honestly wouldn’t be upset if Auburn hired Leach. I’m still cautiously optimistic about him, but we’re paying him quite a bit for a 2 win season. I wouldn’t be upset about redirecting some money to coordinators.

This normal for Leach in his 1st season at a place. He will win after he has run the malcontents and got a smart QB to run the offense. He will make you happy next season. Leach is my favorite coach in all of college football

If that is the case then Gus's first and last games coaching for Auburn were against the Pirate.

Be cool to see but these are the games where usually the ol Gus Buss would pull out a big win and save his job for one more season.

I heard Cole Cubelic say this last week as the reason why he was picking Auburn to defeat A&M.

Gus is running out of chances to fulfill this prophecy.

I don’t keep up with recruiting but if this is the case then he’s gotta go. When recruiting falls off, you’re done.

Exactly. Yet there remain Bama fans convinced its all about beating Bama. If that were the case Gus would be as secure as any coach in the country.
