Kirby is a Mark Richt 2.0.

Damn I didn’t think it would happen.

Don’t agree on the Mark Richt 2.0 but I agree they have giving up. It’s ridiculous Kirby can’t motivate these guys to play just because we are not making it into the playoff

We beat a really bad Mississippi State team by 7 tonight.

I’m pumped about JT, but there isn’t any other aspect of this program to be excited about right now.

It's all about next season now. Between COVID, injuries, and the weird QB situations we've had, 2020 is toast. Remaining games and the bowl need to be used to continue developing Daniels and guys who will be here next season. At least we have a QB with the tools to be the real deal.

The receivers played pretty darn well tonight (except those two drops in the endzone.)

Other than that though, the team lacked heart.

Really? It's "ridiculous" that a team that collectively couldn't be assed to try in the Sugar Bowl against Texas because "it didn't matter" and "it wasn't a playoff game" - and a fanbase that agreed in significant part - doesn't give a frick about a season that is, at best, a week-to-week uncertainty fest?

On top of that mess, it's also a team whose "stars" over the past few years have:
1) bailed on his team to "protect his NFL career" only to quickly establish a name for not really putting much effort into that, either;
2) pussyached because, as a freshman, he didn't get to start over a guy who'd just had the team 1 play away from a national title, and then promptly fricked off to another school (all of this after already bailing on his first school to come here, too);
3) decided to frick off to maybe cling to a spot in the NFL after his worst season, despite having a potentially better group around him; and
4) decided to frick off right before the season even started, right after transferring in to play here.

Players need to be able to motivate themselves. It's the coaches' jobs to focus and direct that motivation. If the players don't respect themselves, or care enough about the sport that's getting them a free ride in college, enough to try, then there really isn't much that the coaches can do.

State scored only 7 points in the second half. More than UF did in the second half. Davis and Rochester is missed but I trust Kirby to fix that. We should have won by two scores if it weren't for those ghost penalties. I'm disappointed in the run game tonight but I feel like a kid in the candy store with JTD at QB.

Really Bc I don’t believe Richt ever took us to a national championship or a rose bowl victory or back to back to back sec championship appearances I don’t remember Richt ever having 3 5 star QBs on his roster

Coaches can indeed motivate. It is a sizeable chunk of what they do. They can also motivate a lack of team cohesiveness. Athletes are motivated by a chance to compete and personal accolades like big NFL money. After a few weeks of practice and a game or 2 football is a fricking drag for players....if they don't have a coach capable of keeping them focused and motivated to succeed they will display the kind of effort we have seen since the second half of Alabama....and at other times while Smart has been at UGA. He can improve in this area...others have. The question remains if he does....

Well this thread took a turn. It was 6 upvotes to 0 downvotes during the game. I guess most people changed their minds after the win

Offensive line looked lazy and confused during the run game.

JT looked like a Heisman candidate after that performance.

Defense was dropping back too much to protect the deep pass. Needless to say, it was corrected in the 2nd half.

Our 2 losses were to top 10 ranked teams. #1 and #8.

We will win out and head to a New Year's 6 bowl game.

Stop crying, UGA fans have gotten spoiled. This is not a normal season, teams have had to contend with things we couldn't imagine 1 year ago just to play a season for their school.

We are still better off than 10 other teams in the SEC.

Stop whining, you sound like a little bitch.
