ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro announced to staffers that roughly 300 people will be laid off as parent company Disney shifts to more direct-to-consumer streaming. The memo follows internal discussions about layoffs related to Covid-19.
ESPN will also part ways with some on-air talent once contracts expire.
“As you know, we value transparency in our internal dialogue, and that means in both good and challenging times,” Pitaro wrote in the memo. “After much consideration, I have some difficult organizational decisions to share. We will be reducing our workforce, impacting approximately 300 valued team members, in addition to 200 open positions.
The network employs roughly 6,000 people worldwide.

Yes, I saw this on the MSB.
Thank you for posting it on here and the OT just to make sure we all see it.

And nothing of value was lost.

Well they folded their product for a group of fans that for the most part dont even watch sports. Quit shoving politics down everyones god damn throat and your product would have succeeded. Kinda like it did for the 30 years prior to your new found wokeness.

Can they start with Ryan Clark please?

Well this is questionable. How about they part with political hacks taking over a sports channel and get back to doing sports?
This might help them. But... they don't seem too bright.

I don’t give a frick Half the people that work there are unqualified ESPN hires to meet quotas. They’ll get better work somewhere else that doesn’t force them to make articles on specific Disney agenda fueled topics. FOX will probably pick up half of them.

Well, it could not have happened to a nicer woke organization.

This is why the SEC needs (or needed) to keep the CBS deal. Never put all your eggs in one basket.
Plus CBS is still a legacy network with a greater reach than ESPN.

Maybe they should focus on sports and not political commentary.

All i want to know is are they making sure their employees wear a mask and do that have tons of unnecessary meetings about inclusion and diversity (aka white people bad)

I could care less about ESPN, especially their radio shows. They have become politically correct and in many cases liberal extreme. They should leave politics out of shite and just do sports. They really do suck now in almost everything.
